Interfraternity Dance Committee plans major changes for Opening Dances on campus. Stanford Tutwiler says sponsors from each fraternity will be introduced, formal attire replaces informal dress, and a tea dance added. Dates Oct 27 and 28 set. no band signed yet though several nationally known orchestras are being contacted. Tickets sold by subscription. Finance Council reports $372 balance. RC Student Drowns In Westhampton Lake
James Edward Lupton, 20, a transfer student from Muhlenberg College to Westhampton College, drowned near the diving pier while swimming with Ed Overton. Lupton choked by cramps. Overton, an inexperienced swimmer, tried to assist as help was summoned.

Mary Sue Carter announces changes to Westhampton dorm dating schedules. Seniors may date until ten four nights weekly, juniors and sophomores on Saturdays Sundays till nine and Wednesday till eight thirty, and freshmen on Saturdays Sundays until nine with Sunday afternoon dates after February. Out of town dates allowed till ten. Earlier rules had earlier curfews.

Dr Susan Lough, a beloved Westhampton history professor, returned from a conference in Europe after a perilous twelve day sea voyage aboard the Van Dycke. Her journey crossed war tense waters with submarine patrols and blackouts, ending in England on August 21 where she described calm leadership and relief upon reaching land.
