Richmond college bids awarded to 226 freshmen
One hundred twenty six Richmond College freshmen accepted bids to eleven fraternities on the campus as 226 bids were extended to 1561 freshmen. Sigma Alpha Epsilon led with 19 accepting bids, followed by Theta Chi with 14 and Kappa Sigma, Sigma Phi Epsilon, and Phi Kappa Sigma with 13 each. The Messenger associate editor Royall Brandis filed a letter charging the Board of Publications with unfair appointments and requesting an inquiry.

Abeloff Resigns Camera Club Presidency
Abeloff resigned as president of the Camera Club at a Biolgy building meeting last Monday due to increased outside work. Armistead Blackley was unanimously elected as his successor. At the October 9 meeting an illustrated lecture will be given, and all university students are invited to attend and join.

Nophs Elect Garrett Head Of Sophomore Class Leaders
Richmond College sophomore class members elected Henry Garnett as president with Bert Milling as vice-president and Mark Willing as treasurer at a Monday Playhouse meeting. Garnett was unanimously chosen to replace Max Katz, Milling is a varsity football freshman, and Willing succeeds R. Ashby Fisher after Kinsey failed to secure a majority in the first ballot.

Richmond College Senate Sets Ballot Elections by Class
The Richmond College senate approved that senior through sophomore class elections be by ballot and plurality. Freshman elections will be run by the sophomore president who will decide majority or plurality. All class and special elections must be announced at least a week prior. They also funded a memorial floral bouquet for James Lupton and funded half of a joint dance with Westhampton College on October 7, plus a new typewriter for the Student Government office.

Dean Keller Presents Painting To School

Famous Band To Play Twice At Richmond College Dances
Mal Hallett and his thirteen piece orchestra will headline two open dances on October 27 and 28 at Richmond College. The engagement marks Hallett’s campus debut and follows a Southern tour that included major hotels and colleges. Dick Wise and Madeline Greye join as featured soloist and vocalist. Tickets are $3.00 with dance chairs arranging campus sponsor tables.
