Richmond Westhampton Students Welcome Roy Dennis Orchestra Dance

The Roy Dennis Orchestra will perform at a joint Richmond and Westhampton Colleges student dance in Millhiser Gym from 9 to 12. Admission is free for university students. James Baldwin chairs the dance committee with Alfred Dickison as vice chair, Mitchell Katz arranging transport, and Westhampton liaison Ann Ryland. Richard Stoneburner oversees gym floor setup. Deans Pinchbeck and Keller chaperon, with several faculty members.

Miss Helen Monsell Publishes Plays With Dramatic Publishing

Richmond College secretary Miss Helen Monsell, author of several plays, discusses early writing at six and her works including Blue Ribbon Pie and Powder Puff Girl. Other titles listed are Solo Flight His Just Desserts The Witchs Doll The Mystery of the Masked Girl and The Other Ghost.

1985 86 Athletic Ticket Books Now In Student Shop

Ticket books for the 1985 1986 college year go on sale in the Student Shop next week with no reduced price date tickets. Each book carries the owner’s photo on the cover to prevent transfer. admission requires the book, not just a treasurer’s slip. Girls’ football books cost five dollars. single game prices start at 1.10 dollars. Garland Kineheloe supervises sale and distribution of tickets.

Original Skits Entertain Rats In Soph Show at Red Cross Building

After a 30 minute wait freshmen gathered for the sophomores two section program in the Red Cross Building. Town students and dorm residents presented original skits with humor and cleverness. A meller drama featured a desperate heroine and a horse race using a broom stock for live stock. Following the curtain popsicles were served to the audience.

The Richmond Collegian introduces Collegiate Digest a weekly pictorial review with news in picture and paragraph. A new Speed Graph feature uses the Magic Eye camera to show athletes in motion. Law School Smoker Opens Freshman Orientation

Orientation events at the T C Williams Law School included an address by Dean M Ray Doubles who praised the school’s high Virginia bar passage rate and urged the class of 1938 to maintain the record. Clarence P Kerarfot spoke on the professional aspects of legal study followed by J R Bringer on briefs for freshmen.

Fresh To Vote On Class Heads At Next Meet

Officers of the class of 1939 nominated in the September 16 primaries will be elected in a meeting Monday September 28 at 12 80 in the Playhouse. Thomas Johnson presides. Presidential candidates are Maurice Vitsky William B Grigg T Graham and C G Kibler. Senatorial contenders are Linwood Brandis James Mundy Jack Sanford and Jack Crews. Nine names remain for vice president after six ties. Secret ballot voting will determine secretaries treasurer and other officers with results announced in Tuesday's Collegian.

Dr Lough On European Tour Reports Restlessness in Central Europe

Dr Susan M Lough Westhamp ton history professor just returned from three months in England and Central Europe. She describes strong public support for the League of Nations and sanctions against Italy and Ethiopia. She notes rising Nazi influence in Germany and widespread ignorance of American views among German students.

University convocation opens with Dr Mitchell address

Departmental reports by deans highlight the first 1086 convocation at the University of Richmond. Dr Mitchell returned from Europe and the U S offering insights from political leaders and public attitudes. The Class of 1086 wore caps and gowns as President Boatwright led the procession to Cannon Memorial Chapel.

Westhampton Debaters Invite Freshmen to Trials

The Westhampton Debate Council will hold its fall meeting and freshmen tryouts Monday at 7 30 PM in the English seminar. Louise Thompson Ruth Stephenson defend the affirmative while Mildred Eckhart Ernest Sne Akers defend the negative.
