Hand Named To Succeed Dr. Lumpkin At Richmond College

University President Dr. George M. Modlin announces Dr. Othell Hand as Religious Activities Director for 1949-50 succeeding Dr. William L. Lumpkin who resigns to accept a pastorate in Richmond. Hand, an assistant professor of religious education, holds a 1943 B A from Mississippi College and a 1949 Ph D from Southern Theological Seminary.

SG Requests Resignation Of Two Men From Student Government

President Jim Sease with the Richmond College Senate called for the resignations of Bo Nelson the SG treasurer and Shorty Long the athletic representative as they move to the Business School. A special election is set for May 17 to fill the vacancies with nominations due by noon May 10. Resignations take effect May 16.

AC Candidates Win 10 Offices

All campus candidates swept senior junior and sophomore class offices capturing 10 of 15 positions. Elected were Tommy Howard Robert Shaw Ralph Barron Donald Baxter Acree Link Chuck Hanson Henry Dwyer William Newhouse Jack Jones Keith Loury William Purdue Frank Edmonds Frank Skinner William Wheeler Warren Long. Edward Vieth won unopposed as Board of Publications representative with 386 votes.

Business Students Schedule Meeting at University of Richmond

Dean F Byers Miller of the University of Richmond School of Business Administration announced a May 10 meeting for all Richmond College students now in the present Sophomore or Junior standing who plan to pursue the B S in Business Administration. The session in the Physics Lecture Room at 1130 aims to explain school operations and registration procedures.

Open House Showcases Biology and Chemistry Departments

Science departments invite the public to an open house on Tuesday May 10 from 8 to 10 p m in the Biology and Chemistry buildings. Beta Beta Beta Gamma Sigma Epsilon and the Chemistry Club sponsor tours of labs and demonstrations in bacteriology genetics histology and color chemistry with films on cancer heart activity yellow fever and malaria control.

University approves deposit fee change for new students

The University announces that the $25 deposit fee will be exempt for current semester students but required for new students and those absent last fall. The change, approved by the executive committee of the Board of Trustees, will appear in the 1949-50 University Bulletin. Dormitory rent at Westhampton College rises by $10. Richmond College fees remain unchanged.

University of Richmond Band to Air Greek March Pindos

The University of Richmond Band will perform Pindos a Greek military march in its Spring Concert at the Greek Theater on May 14 at 8 p.m. The piece was arranged for the band by Major E Mavramatis and linked to Dr Oswald F Hedley a Richmond College graduate now head of ECA MG in Greece. A recording will be made to send to Hedley.

May Day Queen Coronation at Westhampton

Sophomores present the Queen's Ball at Keller Hall starting 9 p.m. with Queen Lovely Susan Dickinson and court as honor guests. May Day events begin at 2 p.m. on the campus green featuring national booths, the Punch and Judy show, a May pole dance, and a coronation at 3:30 p.m. in the Greek Theater.

Four RC Delegates To Attend Congress At Virginia

Professor Wood leads four Richmond College delegates to the Fifth Semi-Annual Session of the Congress at the University of Virginia today and tomorrow. Stuart Massie and Lawrence A. Wood head the group with three student delegates from RC. Delegates register Friday afternoon and join the 4 p.m. opening session with forums from Student Government, Honor Council and Collegian staff. The final session is Saturday at 11:15 a.m.
