VIPA Judges Award Third Place To Collegian Messenger
The Comecian earned first in state collegiate newspapers with 13 entrants, while the Messenger earned a third in the magazine field during the Virginia Intercollegiate Press Association meet in Ashland. Judges praised the Collegian’s professionalism and campus coverage as well as the Messenger’s editorial variety. Certificates were awarded at Randolph Macon College with remarks by Frank H. Fuller.

University of Richmond students led in debate and oratory at the State TKA tournament at Roanoke College. Richmond’s negative team Bill Corder Neil Cline defeated Jerry Roberts Charles Harvey 2-1 in finals. Roberts won the oratory contest among six. Hampden-Sydney’s James Cralle named state president. Roanoke’s William Branscom elected vice president. Hampden-Sydney’s Robert Ramey secret ary treasurer. Professor H H Garretson of Lynchburg College chosen state governor for three years.

Nine Men Named To Circuit Posts In LS Election
On Tuesday April 12 elections were held at T GC William's Law School to elect circuit chairmen and councilmen for three judicial circuits of the Student Bar. Dan Aldridge and Les Campbell were chosen for the First Circuit Council. Marvin Hill is Circuit Chairman with Jimmy Jones and Austin Owen as Council members for the Second Circuit. Tom Shaw leads the Third Circuit with Hugh Thompson and J A Smith to Council, and Walt Lockewandt voices satisfaction as president-elect. Installation is set for Friday May 6 at the Law School.

PDE Initiates Editor Dabney Prize Winner Honored by Fraternity
Virginius Dabney 1948 Pulitzer editor and Richmond Times-Dispatch editor became an honorary member of the University of Richmond Chapter of Pi Delta Epsilon. He and 12 undergraduates were installed by President Arthur L. Singleton and Vice President Peggy Harris at the Hotel Rueger after the chapter banquet.
