University of Richmond Announces $50 Million Development Plan

The University of Richmond reveals a 10 year two phase program totaling 50 million dollars to upgrade facilities and expand academic programs. Phase one allocates 30 million for classroom office space library science complex and campus renovations while phase two adds 20 million for endowment and operating needs. The Robins gifts and Challenge Grant anchor the funding with 81 million pledged toward the goal and new professorships and scholarships planned.

Erosion of Authority in University Urged by Dr Garter

Indiana University chancellor Dr Byrum E Garter warned at the Honors Convocation that an erosion of traditional university authority could yield rule by force unless substitute institutional authority is created. He urged accountable administrators and periodic performance reviews to restore authority within a multi faceted university facing alienated students and shifting definitions.

Dr Heilman Backs Six Of Mayo Commission Requests

President Heilman approves six of seven Mayo Commission requests on campus facilities and services led by extended College Shop hours to 11 30 pm and new Saturday hours 8 am to 11 30 pm on a one month trial starting April 5. An Advisory Panel of two faculty and two students plus Mayo will oversee student needs with Mayo’s management.

Joint Classes Plan Function Slapwater Jack to Perform

Westhampton College and Richmond College freshman classes join for a Sunday dance in Millhiser Gym on April 14 from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Linda McKeel says the event will feature free mixers, informal dress, and proceeds go to a service project for the merged class. Tickets sell after spring break at the refectory, $1.25 per person or $2.25 per couple.
