Gregory Returns To Play Tonight At Richmond College Dance

Gregory and his Victor recording orchestra open the first Spring Dance at Richmond College tonight from nine to one. Poyner and his Collegians from NC State headline tomorrow nine to twelve with Rat Gravity and vocalists Kohler and Lenig. Tickets two dollars for both dances with single tickets available.

Debaters Win Two Victories on Northern Tour

Nan Owen and Betsy Cannon of the Co Ord affirmative team won two debates during a northern tour visiting Trinity College Temple University and Delaware State University. They earned a unanimous victory at the last university. Temple conceded to the Weathampton debaters in a non competition debate.

Vespers Planned by University Choir Directors

Sunday vesper service features a song and musical program directed by Mrs Flaxington Harker of the University Holy. The University Choir will perform sacred and classical selections with several Richmond College pieces. program theme yet to be finalized.

Richmond ODK Chapter Sends Five to National Conclave

Four UR students along with two from Randolph Macon and Hampden Sydney travel to the National ODK Conclave at the University of Cincinnati. The group led by De Re McDanel and Py Strate departs Wednesday and returns Sunday, with a full program of meetings, a banquet, and dances planned for delegates from 41 chapters.

Myers Honored at Brown University for Sigma Xi Membership

Among Brown University graduate students elected to Sigma Xi in Providence Hugh J. Myers of Brandon Mississippi earned his A M from the University of Richmond in 1982. He holds a Brown junior fellowship and conducts advanced research in the Biology Department.

New Student Government Officers to Be Installed

Newly elected officers of the Student Government Association will be installed at the next meeting. Richard Ponge, retiring president, confirms the event and notes the meeting will be held Wednesday at Chapel. A spring dance is planned for March 30 in the Memorial Gym with Ted Lomin presenting.

Supreme Court Justice Browning to Speak at Convocation

Judge Landon Browning of the Supreme Court of Virginia will deliver the principal address at today’s Convocation service. A noted orator, Browning has spoken on special occasions and campaigns across the state. He was born in Greenfields, Rappahannock County, educated at UVA and Georgetown, and practiced law in Madison and Orange before joining the Virginia Supreme Court in a distinguished career.

College notices call for student editors and managers

Richmond and Westhampton College students are urged to apply in writing to Dr. L. H. Walton by noon April 1 1945 for editor managing editor or business manager positions on Collegian Spider and Tower. The Board of Publications seeks to correct misconceptions about how staff heads are elected and urges applications to improve university publications.

King Chosen Board Member Harry King Elected

Harry King, 86, was elected to the Board of Publications in a special election to fill the vacancy after Charles Ryland became Student Government President. About 270 votes were cast, with 16 for King and 106 for Fred Laughan. King will serve the remaining term ending March 1936, when regular two-year elections occur.

Messenger to Resume as University Publication in 1935

The Messenger plans a 1935 summer joint edition run by the Board of Publications and editor Sue Cook McClure with a spring issue April 1. Richmond College senate allocated 370.00 for 500 copies at 10 cents each, supporting restoration as a joint publication if student subscriptions show favor.

Collins to Speak on The Stream of Energy

Dr. G. D. Collins of North Carolina will address the Sigma Pi Sigma physics unit at 4 30 P M today in the Physics lecture room. He prepared at Centre College earning A B in 1909 and M A in 1918 and has taught in Germany the East and at Princeton. He has been an assistant professor of physics at Duke University and retired last year.

Collegian Adopts Style Sheet To Aid Reporters

The Collegian plans a forty page style sheet funded by the Board of Publication to standardize reporting. Editor Charles Arendall introduced the motion and a desk similar to large newspapers is provided. Each staff member will receive a copy and future office additions are planned.

Westhampton College Elects 1945 46 YMCA YWCA Leaders

Vernon Kibler defeats John Pastore 160 to 108 to become YMCA president with about half the student body voting. Florence Marston is unanimously elected YWCA president and will also captain hockey next season. Pollyanna Shepherd and Nancy Cheppell named treasurer and corresponding secretary of the college government for next year.
