Architects Carneal Johnston and Wright draft plans for a new Westhampton gymnasium funded by a federal labor relief loan. Dr. Boatwright aims to confer with President Roosevelt in Washington to secure funds and begin work, with a target completion by February 1936. The project includes a student activities building replacing the Playhouse and a $150000 price tag aided by a $54000 alumnae gift, on the Red Cross Building site.

Crozier Head Speaks Today at University Convocation
Dr. James H. Franklin LL D prominent former student will address the University student body at convocation today. Born in Pampin Va he studied at Richmond College then Southern Baptist Theological Seminary earning Th M in 1888. He holds honorary DD degrees from Denver and Brown and LL D from Richmond in 1925. He served as pastor in the South and as secretary for Baptist associations and missions and is a member of several church bodies. He wrote The Never Failing Light and In the Track of the Storm and was decorated with the Legion of Honor by France.

Campus Interfraternity Dances Draw Mixed Campus Response
Campus events featured Dan Gregory’s and Jimmy Poyner’s orchestras at Mill Miler Gymnasium with medium crowds. The Dance Committee reported profit under $100 after expenses and noted 70 percent of ticket buyers were fraternity men, 20 percent visitors, 10 percent unaffiliated students. A Collegian poll found split opinion on sponsoring bodies and finals orchestra preferences.
