Richmond College Junior Senior Prom Planned for March 23
A first time junior senior prom is set for March 23 in Millier Gymnasium sponsored by the junior and senior classes. The Weede-Meyer Orchestra is under consideration for music with tickets at 75 cents per couple. Features include a possible waltz contest and other novelties with decorative lighting planned. Proceeds go to class projects and a gift to the University, with hopes the event becomes an annual campus feature.

New Orientation Plan Introduces Freshmen to Contempo Civ and Culture
President Boatwright announced a 1034 55 orientation plan for freshmen. A full year course titled An Introduction to Contemporary Civilization and Culture will run across four fields social physical biological sciences and humanities. Six or seven professors will teach. The program mirrors models at Chicago and Columbia and aims to guide life work planning. A divisional committee for each branch oversees the rollout. Continued on Page 3.

Juniors Present The Oddities of 1934 at Playhouse
Westhampton College junior class stages The Oddities of 1934 at 4 15 pm in the Playhouse. The revue features eight end men and women in blackface, a chorus in red and white, and dances and songs with solos by Theresa Carter Sue Cook McClure Marjorie Puryear. Betsy Cannon directs the end men end women and Mary Pat Early leads the chorus with Betsy Marston designing chorus costumes. Tickets are twenty five cents from junior members.

At a recent Inter fraternity Council meeting the dates June 11 and 12 were approved for the annual finals dances as climactic events in the graduation program. The administration backs the plan and social fraternities support it. A nationally known orchestra will be sought from Eddie Duchin Hal Kemp Ozzie Nelson or Jan Garber. If unavailable other top bands such as Buddy Rogers and Will Osborn may be considered.

Local Debaters Continue Meets On Campus Tour
University of Richmond men’s debate team upheld the affirmative on three recent encounters. Edward Haddock and William Grenoble debated Bridgewater College in Bridgewater on March 9, winning the decision. They then faced Lynchburg College in Lynchburg on March 10, losing the decision. A non decision occurred with Waynesburg College on March 12 at the university, where Charles Ryland and George Lee Harper presented the negative on the NRA policy topic.
