Athletic Council Awards Eight Letters to 1931 32 Players

The Athletic Council honored eight players with basketball letters for the 1931 32 season. Captain Lud Sherman received his third letter, with Lou Krapin also earning his third. Juniors Ted Babbitt Ed Perlowski earned insignia for the second time. First time letters went to Turkey Chastain Dave Connors Abe Greene and Cootie Allmond.

Interfraternity Council to Sponsor Spring Athletics

At a recent Interfraternity Council meeting the group agreed to stage an interfraternity sports program this spring. With varsity numbers limited, each fraternity will form athletic teams for members. A committee of Burwell Robinson, Wat Fugate, and Stuart Cooke will draft a baseball schedule and plan a campus track meet.

Easter Vacation Dates Set for March 23 to 31

Easter holidays will begin Wednesday March 23 and continue through Thursday March 31. Students may stay in dormitories by making arrangements with Mrs Gordon immediately.

Honorary Physics Frat to Install New Chapter Here

University of Richmond will host the installation of Chi Chapter of Sigma Pi Sigma on March 16 1932 at 3 00 p m in the Physics Building. Sigma Pi Sigma is a national honorary physics fraternity founded December 11 1921 in Davidson North Carolina.

Rutgers Students Edge Richmond in Debating Showdown

Rutgers debaters Fred J. Knayer and Charlie Bolte argued for socialism over capitalism in the resolution Socialism Has More to Offer the People Than Capitalism. Richmond College team members C. B. Clarke and J. W. Dodd defended the negative. Judges Bolling Handy Frank L. Crone and C. J. Heatwole voted 2 to 1 for Rutgers, drawing much discussion among spectators.

Senator Miller Covers State Legislature Work

State Senator Hunter Miller of Bedford spoke at convocation, outlining six weeks of General Assembly work. He highlighted Virginia's evolving industries, expanding agriculture, and the development of communications as the main focus for lawmakers.

Dr Goode Examines Postwar Shift in English Literature

Dr Goode spoke at the T C Williams Law School on The New Era in English and American Literature. He argued World War I created a new epoch, altered customs, and spurred disillusionment and a mechanized age hindering major literary works. He noted only Forsyth Saga by Galsworthy as a landmark since the war, contrasting Hardy Meredith and Conrad prewar output.

Hassan Praised as Fine Performance by Sophomore Class

The Fletcher play Hassan staged by Sophomore English Classes earned high praise for Miss Caroline Lutz and Miss Emily Brown. Directors and committees drove the ambitious production with lavish costumes, exquisite sets, and innovative use of the building for acting. Laura Mae Thomasson led a colorful, well coordinated musical presentation.
