Richmond College announces Dave Brubeck and his jazz band will perform February 19 in Millhiser Gymnasium from 3 to 5 pm. Tickets cost $7 a couple and $4 for a single. Brubeck’s quartet features piano alto sax and bass drums.
Edwin J. Merrick resigns as University of Richmond head football coach to become assistant athletic director. A five member committee will screen candidates for the head coaching job as Merrick shifts to fund raising for scholarships and program expansion.
The University of Richmond Spartans face George Washington on the home court at 8:15 pm in a key Southern Conference showdown. A win keeps UR in the top division while a loss could alter seeding and tighten the race with William and Mary and VMII looming.
Tryouts for the University Players production Stop the World I Want to Get Off run from 24 90 pa Thursday in the Quonset Hut. Previous November tryouts should attend Monday for role assignments. New attendees are urged to come as many roles remain uncast. Rehearsals start early in the second semester for a March staging. Musical director Dr Donald Morrison choreographer Mrs Donald Morrison and director Bill Lockey lead the production.
Westhampton sophomore class hosts an informal tea and coffee in the Tea Room from 2 to 5 pm Sunday to improve faculty student communication. About 15 faculty members and deans Mary Louise Gehring and Clara M. Keith are invited. President Martha Dorman says the event has tremendous potential for open dialogue.
The Religious Emphasis Week themeCalled to be Human reflects a packed program February 7 11 with Richard Payne as general chairman Seminars and a convocation are planned Key speakers include Dr Gene Bartlett Golgate Rochester Divinity School Doctor Joseph Hants Hamilton Vanderbilt University and Dr W Mark Depp minister emeritus of Ceashey Methodist Church The events take place in Winston Salem North Carolina.
