University Religious Emphasis Week February 7 to 11 centers on the theme Called to be Human. Richard Payne explains the aim is to understand humanity amid mass society, oppression, and rapid technological change, with seminars and conferences for students.
Richmond College senators sell tickets for the Dave Brubeck concert set for February 19 in Mill hiser Gymnasium. Advance prices are seven dollars for drag and four dollars in advance, with door prices eight dollars and five dollars. Brubeck, a famed jazz pianist, leads a trio with alto sax, piano, bass, and drums.
Richmond College and Westhampton College will switch from a three point to a four point grading scale next year with new cumulative scholastic standards. Under the plan a OC average equals 240 grade points for 120 hours and all grades will carry positive points. Pollard stated the change simplifies grade handling and affects freshmen entering Westhampton in 1966 while current students stay on existing requirements.
The University Choir with Richmond College and Westhampton glee clubs will perform J.S. Bach St Matthew Passion in Keller Hall Chapel on Sunday February 13 at 3 pm under James Erb. Erb conducts and sings tenor evangelist. admission charged for public, free for faculty and students.
The Junior Inter-fraternity Council and Richmond College Senate announce a combo dance at Millhiser Gym on Feb 4 from 8 to 12. Tickets are $2 per couple and $1 for a single. The Grandeurs will perform, with a history of shows at UConn Alabama Mount Vernon and venues in Virginia Beach Ocean City.
Westhampton College is urged to establish a Sigma Tau Delta chapter, the national honorary English fraternity with 130 chapters in 40 states. The Westhampton group plans membership for English majors in the upper class and a few top sophomores, with full faculty support led by committee chair Martha Colston.
University treasurer Charles HW Wheeler III announced that campus parking rules and regulations will be enforced during the entire two week examination period.
