Horace Heidt Scout To Audition Talent At WMBG

Advance scouts for Horace Heidt will audition entertainers tonight at 7 in WMBG studios for possible appearance with the troupe. Betty Curtis, last year’s Westhampton winner, is touring with one section of the group. Auditions require entrants to bring their own accompanists.

Vets Hospital appeals to UA for Rh donors

An urgent appeal to University of Richmond students with Rh negative blood to register as donors was issued by Dr. B M Eiler son manager of the Richmond VA hospital. The letter to Dean C J Gray asks students to contact the hospital blood bank by telephone 82 3411 ext 252 for registration and appointment. Donors under 21 need parental consent.

UR Students Get Break on Tickets For Revue Tonight

The University of Pennsylvania Mask and Wig Club will stage Alaska Right Away at WRVA Theater tonight at 8 30. Tickets are reduced to 1 25 for students via the Richmond Alumni Chapter of Penn. Of 44 cast members 92 served in the armed forces or enrolled after discharge, and tonight’s show closes the season.

Scandinavian Schools Open To Americans

The University of Oslo will offer six week summer courses in English for American students from June 27 to August 6. St Olaf College will host American admissions materials and catalogs. Courses cover sciences humanities and Norwegian culture with up to six credits transferable. Approximate six week cost is 300 dollars plus 320 to 400 dollars for round trip transport. Normand Norstrand of St Olaf accompanies students. Dr Otto L Mohr presides. Eligibility requires good academic record health and junior standing by summer 1949.

Richmond College Dormitory Closing Sparks Student Outcry

Indignant accusations that Richmond College students were locked out of dormitories during Christmas vacation prompted a defense from administration. Officials cited catalogue rules that dorms close during Christmas and spring breaks, with no room charges during holidays. Dean Pinchbeck said the staff remained open and offered faculty housing as needed, while the Student Government Senate said it would investigate the issue.

Newport News Firm Invites SAM Group For Factory Tour

The University of Richmond chapter of the Society for the Advancement of Management will visit Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company on Tuesday. Members will tour the apprentice school, shipbuilding facilities, and ships at the dock, with lunch in the apprentice school cafeteria. Mr. F. James Barnes II spoke on effective speech at the Pioneer Room gathering.

Students Get Discounted Hamlet Movie Tickets at Capitol Theater

University students may obtain special coupons at the Student Shop to exchange for reduced matinee tickets at the Capitol Theater or Miller and Rhoads. Matinees start 2:30 p.m. daily with two extra shows on weekends. Regular prices run 1.20, 1.50, and 1.80 dollars. student price is one dollar. All seats reserved for Richmond showing.

Vets Must Reveal Dependency Status To Increase Pay

Veteran students gaining dependents under the GI Bill must inform the VA at once to qualify for higher subsistence payments. Notify the VA regional office with legal evidence of dependents, such as a certified birth baptism or marriage record. Payments increase from the receipt date of evidence. not retroactive. Full-time students receive monthly subsistence of $75 without dependents, $105 with one, and $120 with more than one.
