Art Classes Open Exhibit Here Today

The Social Center Building in Westhampton hosts the second of four exhibits of living American art with a 4:30 to 6 tea. Twelve color reproductions from Vienna will be displayed, selected by Hughes Mears and artists Bouche, Brook, and Dehn, featuring works by Soyer Kuniyoshi Marsh Sloan and others.

No 1937 Grads In Gas Stations

Richmond College's 1937 graduates show none work as service station attendants. One has an inside job at Standard Oil NJ. Most return to education with five in Richmond Graduate School and others at Duke Harvard Ohio State Cornell VPI Columbia Hopkins Princeton. Eleven study at the Medical College of Virginia and twelve teach in state high schools.

University Players Initiate Seven New Members

Seven applicants who earned the required credits were voted into the University Players at a recent meeting. New members include Walter Brock Luther Jenkins Hisse Bradshaw Ellen Warner Sally Moore Barnes Agnes Dalton of Accomac County and Martha Ellis. They plan tryouts for The Night of January 16 by the Thespian unit.

Senate Forms Chapel Convocation Committee

The Student Government Senate on January 8 formed the Student Meeting Program Committee to direct Convocation activities. It will meet on alternate Wednesdays with representatives from participating organizations, led by a president-appointed chair. The group includes a faculty member, the Glee Club president, Omicron Delta Kappa president, and a junior class member.

YMCA To Name Fresh Cabinet At Freshman Meeting

YMCA cabinet plans a Monday meeting at 7 30 p m to form a freshman cabinet and elect officers Curtis Haug the Y president urges interested freshmen to attend so they can observe cabinet procedures and learn about YMCA activities February will feature two visiting speaker events at the cabinet sponsored program

PDE Prize Short Story Contest Details

The announcement lists eligibility for Rich mond and Westhampton Colleges students excluding PDE and Messenger staff. Short stories must be 2,500 to 1,500 words and submitted by March 15, 1938. A PDE chapter committee with editors will judge. a five dollar prize is awarded. winning story appears in the Messenger April issue. rights reserved for non prize publication.

Westhampton Junior Class Prom Plans Colorful Figure

Westhampton's junior class hosts its annual prom in the gym from nine to twelve on Saturday February five with Roy Dennis's Orchestra providing music. The figure precedes intermission during a card to break dance sequence with invited class presidents and Student Government leaders in the receiving line.

Richmond Camera Club to begin instructional series

The Camera Club at the University of Richmond will start a series of photography programs at the next meeting on January 17. The initial talks will cover elementary fundamentals open to all interested students.

Prep Cagers Open Ninth Annual Meet As Guests Of U. of R.

The ninth annual prep school basketball carnival ends with Ray Dennis' band at the Varsity Club dance in Milhiser gym after the final game. All carnival players are guests. admission is fifty cents. Coach Thistlethwaite notes the games are exhibitions with no honors. The University of Richmond hosts the event with teams attending as guests.

University of Richmond Names 21 Managers Across Sports

The athletic office announces 21 managers for UR teams. Senior football manager Robert R. Martin leads 1988 football. senior baseball manager Shanks Wilborn directs 1937 season. Other sports list junior and sophomore managers including basketball, track, tennis, golf and intercollegiate relations.

Education Head To Speak Today

Dr Sidney B Hall state superintendent of Public Instruction will speak on The Expanded Educational Program in Virginia at convocation today. Hall is a Will iam and Mary graduate with A B from the college and M A from the University of Virginia and Ph D from Harvard. He was appointed in 1981 by Governor Pollard after years in Europe studying educational systems.
