Crawford Resigns as University of Richmond Backfield Coach

Darrell Crawford longtime backfield coach at the University of Richmond has resigned. He played for Georgia Tech in the 1952 Orange Bowl, joined Richmond last August, and previously coached at Norfolk during Army service. Merrick seeks a replacement and may hire from high school, pro, or college ranks.

Dr. Ralph E. Lapp, former Manhattan Project Division Director, will lecture on The Scientist and Society. The talk, presented by the University's Thomas Lecture Foundation, occurs 8:00 p.m. in Keller Hall Friday January 13.

Four REW biographical reviews and a week of events outline Monday February 6 1956 opening convocation with Dr Shrader keynote in Chapel and a pastors meeting at the Student Center Luncheon for team pastors and steering committee at Richmond College dining hall a ministry needs seminar led by Dean Anderson and a Keller Hall gymnasium session plus Bible study groups and a concluding message by Dr Anderson. Subsequent days include convocation discussions and lectures by Dean Anderson Dr Shrader and Mrs Armstrong with meals and seminars across North Court South Court Fraternity Row and Keller Hall through Friday February 10 1956 ending with a closing convocation by Dr Shrader.

Mock Case To Be Tried on Saturday

The Case of Moss v Field will be tried Saturday January 7 at 9 30 a m in the Court Room of T C Williams School of Law. Plaintiff Thomas W Moss alleges Herbert Field owes him a commission. Judge Robert Lewis Young presides and a jury from Richmond and Westhampton Colleges will hear the case.

Richmond Debating Team Plans Busy 1960 Schedule

The University of Richmond debate team unveils a three month slate featuring the Marshall Wythe Tournament at William and Mary February 9 to 11 and four March intercollegiate contests in Morgantown Washington DC Charlottesville and New York City. Last year the team won the Southern Championship at the North South Tournament. Intramural events include oratory extemporaneous and after dinner speaking with details to follow.
