The University of Richmond debate team, still undefeated, heads to the Virginia Invitational at the University of Virginia aiming for a third consecutive tournament win. Loyal alumnus Tip Saunders former UR star dies
William Francis Saunders known as Tip Saunders class of 1933 died December 5 in a Richmond hospital. He supported University of Richmond athletics especially basketball and Lambda Chi Alpha, never declined requests, and earned praise for loyalty. He served in WWI, worked in various posts, and spent 11 years on the State Corporation Commission staff. Pallbearers were fellow basketball team members.

Religious Programs Highlight Christmas Week on Campus
A week of Christmas themed events unfolds at the university. The Vesper Service at 7 15 p m next Thursday features a carol filled worship with a devotional and a Christmas reception for students. Canterbury Club hosts a St Stephens Church party for Episcopalians from 6 to 745 p m Sunday with 550 p m pickup at Westhampton barrier. Student Forum meets at St Giles Presbyterian Church at 6 p m for two Union Theological Seminary students delivering Christmas messages then attends University Christmas Party with transport from Westhampton barrier at 545 p m. Wesley Foundation hosts a party for orphans at the Methodist Home Thursday at 8 pm in Keller Hall basement. A Christmas pageant is planned.

On pay off day for UR rushing season, 24 men pledged by Kappa Sigma led the fraternity results. Phi Gamma Delta followed with 15 pledges and Sigma Phi Epsilon Lambda Chi Alpha and Phi Delta Theta each pledged 14.
