Debate Team Captures Top Honors At USC Meet

The University of Richmond debate team won four of five trophies and tied for fifth at the Carolina Forensics Tournament in Columbia South Carolina in November 2021. Rex Adams Sandy Bassett Ken Hodder and Dick Howard led the squad under Dr Janes L Golden earning top speaker honors in several events and an 11 1 record.

Business School Senate Approves 1953 54 Budget

The Business School Senate approved the 1953 54 budget and endorsed President Bob Berry's selections for the Honor Council junior class, naming Bill Thacker a varsity football player and member of the Varsity Club while Soupy Hayes joins Sigma Phi Epsilon, the Glee Club, and University Players.

Fraternity Portraits Set By Photographer This Week

Web announces last opportunity for portraits and group photographs by Harry Hodges. Portraits take place Monday through Wednesday in the Biology Building with a final visit on December 7. Westhampton freshmen sponsor party for underprivileged children

In Keller Hall, Westhampton freshmen host a Friday three o clock party for fifty children from the House of Happiness in Richmond. Eleanor Vosburgh presents a puppet show while Mary Margaret Williams reads stories and Ann Cunningham directs carols.

House discusses Family Week End plans and annual matters

The House of Representatives completed Family Week End planning and sent it to President Modlin. Speaker Ken Hodder announced the year end recess with plans to reconvene January 5 to organize the event. An Athletic Commission was formed and a Blood Drive postponed. several appointments and a Vocational Guidance Week committee were named.

Greeks To Offer Arguments To Rushees Through Sunday

Richmond College restricts fraternity dating from tonight at 8:00 p.m. to Sunday 12:00 midnight with two hour dating per day. Rushees risk losing bid eligibility for the semester if a dated relationship is broken. Bids must be submitted Monday between noon and 5:00 p.m. No talks with prospects after 6:00 p.m. Monday.

Dean Pinchbeck To Resume Classroom Duties At Richmond College

Dean Raymond Pinchbeck, creator of the cheer Hi Neighbor, will return to teaching next week at Richmond College after several weeks away due to illness and surgery. He has spent recuperation reading and writing and resumed radio broadcasts from home before Thanksgiving. he will not yet assume full office duties.

IFC Names Date For Annual Party

The Interfraternity Council sets its Christmas party for underprivileged children on Saturday December 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Millhiser Gymnasium. Eighty five kids ages five to ten will attend with gifts donated by fraternity men, wrapped and marked for boy or girl, due by December 9 to Kappa Alpha Room.

AFROTC Honors Two Cadets as Distinguished Students

Fred Bisger and Al Pecuch are named distinguished Air Force ROTC students by Colonel Thomas Glarke. Selection requires being in the upper third of Air Science III and concentration, plus high morals and leadership potential with faculty endorsement. Distinguished graduates receive a certificate for their permanent military record and special commission considerations. only twenty percent of a class may earn this honor.

Nativity in Modern Dance Tops Orchesis Recital Next Wednesday

The nativity in modern dance will be the main feature of the annual Orchesis recital in Keller Hall gym next Wednesday at 8 p.m. Frances Wessells choreographs and directs the program with folk dance pieces in a modern style. Production director Jean Ormerod is aided by Hope Horney Margaret Logan and Billie Bryan.
