Professor Taylor reports the 1937 Richmond football season yielded the school’s highest financial gain. Receipts totaled 40 577.18 with expenses 26 848.85 and an apparent profit of 14 821.26 after equipment and medical costs. Football funds support other sports and debt reduction.
The Junior Freshman ceremony blends the two classes in a cooperative program at 7:20 in the College Government Room. Elizabeth Davis will narrate as Spirit of Alma Mater, with Ellie Terretta and Clara Vawter as freshmen, and student and faculty roles outlined for honors leadership and sportsmanship.

The 1986 87 Messenger wins VIPA first prize for best general university magazine at the 11th VIPA convention at Washington and Lee University Lexington. Miscellany of Mary Baldwin College takes second prize.
The University Choir led by Mrs. Edith Harker will present Handel's Messiah at 7:00 pm Sunday December 12. Four soloists and a string orchestra supported by accompanist Mrs. Frank Wendt will perform with featured singers Mrs. Herbert Ragland Ellen Tucker Swain Maurice Tyler and Harrison Harding.
Sanford Hargrave Sanford of Luray and University of Richmond 1985 graduate is among sixteen Rhodes candidates. He will face Virginia committee interviews next Thursday with two finalists advancing to Oxford after selection with peers from surrounding states. Sanford earned Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Phi Upsilon honors and played multiple sports in college.
The University of Richmond tonight presents three one act plays in the Playhouse at 8 15 directed by student staff under Professor Alton Williams. Quare Medicine Magnolia’s Man and Job’s Kinfolks star a cast from Richmond Danville Chesterfield and Mappsville with newt Harris Paul Saunier and Mary Crabtree among others in a North Carolina mill town setting.
The Student Government budget increases by 825 over last year with total fees of 20 per student. allocations include Web to rise by 1055.70 and Collegian down 226.08. Band gains 49.05, Glee Club 21.23, Forensic Council down 21.89, Messenger about even, YMCA and University Players flat, Radio Guild first year grant 86.00.
