PDE Selects Noted Artist and Eleven Others for Fraternity Honors

Richmond Times Dispatch cartoonist Fred Seibel was elected to Pi Delta Epsilon at Richmond College Chapter. Eleven undergraduates joined Pi Delta Epsilon and five joined Tau Kappa Alpha during ceremonies in Cannon Memorial Chapel. Seibel, with a 31 year career, has had a Virginia Museum show and donated hundreds of cartoons to UVA’s Alderman Library.

Delegates To Conference From Richmond College Chosen

Representatives from the Richmond College Student Government Honor Council and student press attend the third semi annual convention of the Student Congress of Virginia Colleges and Universities at Randolph Macon College in Ashland today and tomorrow. Stuart Massie and Bob Lane lead the delegation with Jack Greene Morton Marks and Buddy Gans also attending. Greene serves as vice president of the Student Congress.

Morris Sayre to keynote University commencement June 7

University alumnus Morris Sayre president of Corn Products Refining Company and NAM will return to campus June 7 to deliver the commencement address and receive the honorary Doctor of Science. He will be among four recipients at the ceremony in Luther H Jenkins Memorial Greek Theatre.

Junior Class Picnic Planned at Wayside Park May Twenty Second

Basil Morrissett announces Richmond College Junior Class will hold an off campus picnic at Wayside Park about May 22 from 2 30 to 7 30 The event is the first off campus project for the class with tickets set at seventy five cents Bus transportation being arranged by Buddy Gans and Jim Heslip lead committee efforts Food drinks and transport to be funded by ticket sales All members urged to share rides or take buses to ease the transport issue.

Massie Announces Appointees To Fill Honor Council Posts

University sets a $25 deposit for all incoming and current students as verification of intent to enroll next fall. The fee, due by July 1 for current students and upon acceptance for new students, is credited to the $150 September matriculation charge and forfeited if the student fails to matriculate. GI students will have the amount refunded through VA support.

Lovely physics exhibit thrills crowd at Sigma Pi Sigma event

Dean Pinchbeck praised the annual physics exhibit in the Physics Building where over a hundred displays drew nearly a thousand spectators. Highlights included a microwaves lecture by Bolling Batte and Dr. Lovings demo on rotating magnetic fields and Bernoulli coils.

Class Elections Tuesday at Richmond College

Polls open 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday to elect class officers and senators at large and vote on the revised Constitution. Voting uses the student directory and eligibility letters from Miss Monsell. seniors receive a separate ballot for Constitution and three senators at large.

WC Alumnae Back Forum Opens Vocational Guidance Series

The Alumnae Association of Westhampton College with Miss Marion Hamilton sponsors a two day Vocational Guidance Forum on April 26 and 27 to help girls explore careers. Richmond College Honors Council Appointments Announced

Student Government President Stuart Massie named four juniors two sophomores and one freshman to the Richmond College Honor Council for next year. Appointees include juniors Jack Jennings Billy Gee Albert Evans and incoming juniors Buddy Rosser Phil Frederick. Freshman Jack Griffin will serve as sophomore and junior, replacing graduating seniors Carroll Alley Percy Gates Jack Greene and Melvin Lubman and treasurer Neil Cline. An extra senior seat will be Pete Singleton, with Edward Dunford remaining as junior. An unofficial faculty adviser David Mead White Jr will assist on legal procedure but has no student jurisdiction or meeting duties.

Richmond College Names 1948 Handbook Staff

Stuart Massie announces a nine member staff for the 1948 Handbook with Claude Thomas as editor and Hansford Rowe as business manager. Assisting editors include Pete Singleton and Larry Seyler while Wally McGraw assists Rowe in ads. The team aims to publish the instructional booklet for orientation week.
