French Writers Subject Of Talk At WC Today
Cecile Guilmineau associate professor of French at Sweetbriar College will give a lecture on contemporary French writers this afternoon at 3:30 in Keller Hall. The talk, in English, is sponsored by Westhampton College French Department and will explore existentialism and Jean Paul Sartre.

Twin Piano Recital Promoted by WC Juniors at Keller Hall
The Westhampton Junior Class sponsors a twin piano recital featuring Nellie Burt and Gladys Austin in Keller Hall Reception Room at 8:00 pm on Thursday April 29. Student tickets cost 50 cents while general admission is 75 cents, with all proceeds donated to the Maude Howlett Woodfin Memorial Fund. Miss Wright, from Virginia, has performed at Carnegie Hall and toured with the Army in 1944 and plans European study under Gasadesus this summer. Miss Austin is noted for piano artistry and has been active in music and women’s clubs in Philadelphia and Pennsylvania.

Westhampton Day revived college tradition on April 20
Westhampton seniors sponsored Westhampton Day with the theme History Past Present and Future. A chapel program featured speakers former Dean May L Keller Mrs Harriet Sharon Willingham Cynthia Patrick and Nancy Curtis. Puppets of Dr Keller and Dr Pinchbeck were on display in Keller Hall along with scrapbooks trophies and past Web issues. Rosalie Varn presented a maple tree planted by the lake path as the freshman contribution. The day ended with seniors modeling fashions and Fay Hines reading the class of 1948 prophecy.

Former UR Men Start Car Wash Using Mind Man Machine
Four ex GI s opened Commonwealth Gar Gleaners Inc at 320 W Main in Richmond to offer fast car washing with a 16 000 machine claiming a three minute turnaround. Reporters observed nine cars cleaned in under half an hour as workers vacuumed interiors and finished windshields.
