Bucknell Debaters to Debate Richmond Team in Richmond

Bucknell University debaters, led by Herman Smithers White, will face the University of Richmond team that defeated West Virginia in Charleston by unanimous decision. The match is set for Tuesday night in Richmond, April 28, with Richmond extending the challenge after Bucknell was not on the regular schedule.

Discussion group on Child Labor Amendment

Miss Ula Nixon leads a discussion group aiming to foster understanding between industrial and college girls. Student shop to open evenings on campus

A petition led by Robert J. Schneider prompted Hunter & Company to run the campus student shop 8 to 10 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays through year end. Dr. Boatwright announced the experiment would start this term once a student volunteers to manage the shop.

Dr Mitchell Attends Inter-Racial Conference in Atlanta

Dr S Cy Mitchell head of History and Political Science at the local university attends the Inter-Racial Conference in Atlanta. The gathering, closing today, covers over seven hundred committees dedicated to fostering goodwill and cooperation among races to reduce conflict. Dr Miles directs Virginia committees and Dr W W Alexander oversees the overall organization. The meeting is a business session with no outstanding addresses.

Suffrage Leader Mrs Corbett Ashby Speaks at Richmond

Mrs Corbett Ashby, president of the International Suffrage Alliance, urged university men and women to train leaders for politics and government. Speaking at Richmond College Chapel, she discussed Europe’s condition, the League of Nations as a peace guarantee, and the need to uphold cultural and political standards amid growing crises. She attended the National League of Women Voters meeting in Richmond last week.

S Warren Chappell was elected president of the University Players at a Monday meeting. Marian Marsh, Margaret Harlan, and C H Robinson were chosen as vice president secretary and treasurer respectively to serve for the remainder of this year and next.

Over 60 Y M C A representatives from Virginia colleges attended the state conference at Apple Orchard Camp. National Philatelist to Lecture Local Society in Richmond

August Dietz of Richmond will address the local Philatelic Society on The History of the Confederate States Postal Department and its Stamps. Julian P. Martin, secretary, announced the talk, open to the public with time and place to be announced. N R Sibold president of the Freshmen Class says the Rats will host a weenie roast and hike on Saturday May 2. The full first year class pledged cooperation and urged members to pay dues to fund the event. Each boy can bring guests for a grand and glorious time.

Yesterday the Little Theater League presented The Minuet a one act play by Louis N Parker on the University Campus at the Red Cross Building. The Harlequin Club sponsored the event with the Dramatic Club guests and many students attended from both sides of the lake.
