Virginia counties vie in high school literary meet
Thirteen counties from across the state send representatives to two Virginia High School Literary and Athletic League contests on campus today. District divisions C and D include Amelia Charles City Chesterfield Dinwiddie Goochland Hanover Henrico King and Queen King William New Kent Prince George and others. Judges include University professors with officials from Ashland Battlefield Park Blackstone New Kent and Beaverdam high schools directing events in spelling debating and reading for both boys and girls.

Ministers Hold Annual Dinner In City Churches
The Richmond Baptist Pastors Conference and Richmond College ministers host a fellowship dinner at First Baptist Church attended by about 85 ministers and students. The event previews University Night on April 27 when 62 students will assist in 35 local Baptist churches.

University Lake swimming banned pending health analysis
The University has ordered a water test for University Lake and will not permit swimming until the Virginia State Department of Health reports an official analysis. Dean Raymond B. Pinehbeek states there is no known contamination but the lake cannot be used for swimming until the health department’s findings are received.

Complete Plans For Jamboree At Millhiser Gymnasium
Jimm y Turkington president of ODK says the April 26 jamboree in Millhiser Gym will run 8 to 12 with a faculty-student floor show by Bill Amick George Ross and Paul Saunier. A hillbilly band will perform upstairs and bingo and booths with drinks ice cream candy and cigarettes will be available. Tickets are twenty five cents.

The first open University bridge party, partly sponsored by the Westhampton student government, will be held tomorrow at 2:30 PM in the Activities Building. Rosellen Hoffman chairs the event with prizes donated by local merchants. Admission is ten cents for nonfaculty. The Westhampton tournament finals will crown the college champions with a grand prize donated by Elizabeth Arden.
