Interdisciplinary Studies Deadline Set for May 1

Dr. Frank B. Bakin announced a May 1 deadline for students to submit applications to the new interdisciplinary concentration. The program, begun this year, requires a 3.0 GPA and work from at least three departments, with up to ten rising juniors to be chosen.

Prospective Students Visit UR Tomorrow

Richmond College plans New Student Day inviting 700 admitted students and their parents for a four hour event from 10 am to 2 pm. George Kendall and Thomas N Pollard Jr. outline aims to showcase academics and activities and pace future programs at Westhampton if successful.

Sunbathing Ban Proposed for Library Hill Area

Dean William E. Baker issued a notice to dorm residents urging students not to sunbathe on the library lawn citing visitor complaints. Those who study on the lawn may, but those sunning, listening to radios, or making excessive noise should relocate to areas away from the library. The Boatwright Library lacks air conditioning and requires open windows in warm weather.

USGA Endorses Plan to Add Students to Board

The University Student Government Association unanimously endorsed a proposal to place two students on the Board of Trustees. The measure, awaiting approval by four university senates, aims to improve student representation and value to the board. Gaston Williams, new Congress chairman, said student input could aid senior trustees. Williams expects senate approval and transmission to President Heilman for Trustee action. Yard Schreffler and Mark Holpe were elected executive secretary and chairman pro tempore respectively, with new meeting rules adopted.
