Westhampton Hosts Miss Spurgeon and Dean Gildersleeve

Westhampton evening program featured Dean Gildersleeve of Barnard College speaking for the Association of Collegiate Alumnae and the Southern Association of College Women about forming an international organization of university women. Miss Caroline Spurgeon of the University of London planned to attend but was sidelined by neuralgia. The talk outlined aims for a league starting with Great Britain and the United States, with expansion hoped to include France and other nations.

Intercollegiate Debate Tonight Between Richmond and William and Mary

Richmond College and William and Mary College meet in a dual intercollegiate debate. At Richmond Chapel Honts and Johnson oppose the motion that a third political party would benefit laboring classes, while at Williamsburg Hite and Beehler support it.

Dobsonites by Quintet of Miscues, Give Away Second

Errors at inopportune times and a scarcity of binges at opportune moments spelled defeat for the Spiders in their game with Lafayette College at Boulevard Park. Richmond College scored both tallies in the fourth and sixth frames on two hits, while Lafayette managed seven hits off Snead with two runs in a six inning span.

Sophomores Win Debating Face Off at Richmond College

In a historic first debate at Richmond College, Sophomore reps W. Carver and V. C. Hargroves defeated Rat class champs Joseph Weeks and C. V. Bishop. The topic was the United States adopting the Swiss Military System. Carver earned top honors as Bishop supported him with a strong run.

Westhampton Sororities debated by student vote

Sororities in Westhampton were discussed by faculty and student leaders. A faculty committee studied the issue and students received a ballot before exams asking if they favor sororities and if the time is ripe, with a follow up meeting by a student government group after holidays.

Richmond College Announces Summer School Plans

Richmond College Virginia releases full details for a 1920 summer session from June 17 to July 30. Director H B Handy outlines aims for improving credits and degrees with courses in English Latin modern languages history economics science and education taught by resident and visiting faculty.
