Returning Richmond College students must prematriculate on Saturday April 6. Dean Robert P. Smart urges early planning with faculty advisors, major chairs for sophomores and juniors, and completion of a matriculation card. Prepare course plans, lists of completed courses, and address details for 1966 67.
Bo Diddly will be accompanied by Inez and Charlie Fox at the April 28 concert. The show, announced to the Richmond College Senate, replaces Maxine Brown who had a conflicting engagement. The event will be a concert and dance with blanket seating as dates will not be provided.
Westhampton selects 36 counselors for entering freshmen and transfer students for next year from 71 applicants. Nine town residents Betsy Welsh Garol Seymour Loretta Birck head Leona Chase Barbara Evans Maureen Goode Hoppert Hock Cookie Hoffer and Sandra Kelley join 27 dormitory students. Rising seniors Janine Kulak Anne Pomeroy Diana Summers Suzanne Ivey Jo Ann Martin also named along with other counselors including Phyllis Andrews Bonnie Bowman Karla Brownmiller Margaret Byrn Jane Chewning Betty K Cross Janet Duval Collette Fields Mary Gearing Judy Greenberg Jay Hart Lynn Hoffman Barbara Johnson Lynn Martin Gay Mason Judy Parrish Mary Fran Peck Carty Richards Martha Rubush Robbie Ann Shreve and Beryl Whitten.
All Richmond College freshmen and sophomores seeking office must submit their names to SGA president Bill McCann by midnight April 11. Each candidate must also file with three class endorsements. Juniors may file by April 11 and still remain on the ballot.
The Selective Service System issues new deferment rules for college students under 2-8 classification with test requirements and class standing thresholds. Freshmen need upper half standing or a 20 test score, sophomores upper two thirds, juniors upper three fourths, plus year progression and 70 test score. graduates must be admitted to graduate or professional school and score 80 on the test. tests set for May 14 May 21 or June with dates and locations to be supplied by local boards and Science Research Associates in Chicago.
Westhampton College held third ballot elections Monday to elect class officers and Athletic Association managers. Rising seniors will aid president Jackie Lassiter with posts including Alyce McGinnis as vice president and Judy Bailey as social cultural coordinator. Rising juniors choose Anne Heflin’s team with Sharon Stages as vice president and Phyllis Andrews as social-cultural coordinator. Rising sophomores select Carolyn Hodges’s slate with Connie Booth as vice president and Carol Reese as AA representative. AA managers include Martha Dorman hockey Pat Adwerton swimming Marty Flemming tennis Loretta Birckhead Ja Cross Suvanne Ivey basketball.
A student organ recital will be presented at 8 30 tonight in Gannon Memorial Chapel. Mary Bo Willis a West Hampton College junior Tom Robertson of Carrsville and Bruce Stevens of Richmond Richmond College freshmen will be the organists. The public is invited to the recital.
Altschul a junior in the business school and Richard Sinclair, Richmond College junior, were nominated for the presidency of the Interfraternity Council. Vice presidents nominees are Pete Shaw of Phi Kappa Sigma and Tor Watson of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Altschul is active as secretary and chairman of the TFC court and Greek Week Song Fest. Sinclair serves as IFC vice-president and Phi Kappa Sigma vice-president and is secretary of the Richmond College Student Government Association.
Duke University history professor Robert I. Crane will give an address on Nationalism and Social Change in Modern India in Keller Hall on April 14. Crane, born in India, holds Duke and Yale degrees and has published extensively on Asian studies.
