Sioux County has surpassed its 1942 War Savings Bond quota by 25,687 dollars, pushing totals to 176,070.65 with 172,665.56 on the top line. The message urges remaining residents to fulfill their pledges, warns of public listing of nonparticipants, and calls for continuing monthly bond purchases totaling 144,750 dollars to finish the campaign.
Mr and Mrs Cornelius Dykstra of Sioux City had Sunday supper at Elite Dykstra's home. Benjamin VanZanten phoned his parents from New Jersey after arriving in the States from Northern Ireland. Hildred Dykstra and Lyle visited Ben Koerselman in George. Laurence Haze of Spencer spent the weekend in George Mlazgar's home.
Mr and Mrs Ray Bridge and Dennis Ray of Parker South Dakota were Sunday visitors in the Naso Jansen home in Spencer were Sunday supper guests in the Andrew Belling home. Mr and Mrs Claus Verley and Cornice of Valley Springs South Dakota were Tuesday dinner guests in the Peter Herweynen home.

Aviation Cadet Vincent Peters of Ellington Field recalls a night formation when both engines failed at about 1500 feet. He parachuted to safety while his crewmate Peter Wayne Perrier of Disney Oklahoma was killed. Graduation ceremonies followed on September 5.
A Troop 132 group held a Thursday picnic luncheon featuring primitive chicken. The crowd found it novel and successful with several attendees including Paul McCrum William Wargow sky R. C. Fick Roy Kimmel Gerrit Brinkman G. B. Herron Rev. Schut and Harold Stientjes all of Matlock and Boyden.
