Mrs Sophia Moret Kuyper Dies at 85 in Boyden Iowa
Mrs Sophia Moret Kuyper died last Thursday at about five in the morning at the home of her son William Moret in Boyden following a stroke six weeks earlier. She was born in the Netherlands in 1831 and came to the United States in 1847 settling in Pella. She first married L Moret and after his death in 1902 wed Anne Kuyper who also preceded her. Funeral services were held Saturday at the house and Reformed Church with Rev Van Lummel officiating. Interment followed in Orange City cemetery beside her husband. She leaves two sons John Moret of Chandler Minnesota and William Moret of Boyden Iowa, along with other relatives and friends from Chandler Woodstock Leighton and Sully.

Farmers Plan Local Transmission Line in Orange City Area
A meeting of farmers north of Boyden discussed stringing a transmission line to supply electricity. Ten farmers have signed on and Veenschoten Bros installed a 75 hp Corlis engine to provide initial power. They plan to switch to alternating current later.
