Hon. W. G. McAdoo secretary of the Treasury will speak at Sheldon Union depot at noon Thursday for about an hour. He will be introduced by Dr. Harding and attend a large crowd as advertised by the Sheldon Commercial Club.
Red Cross notes request a small heater for the room and invite donations of a stove. Yarn is available for knitters, and the room will be open on Monday and Friday afternoons. The women’s work is described as as vital as active service in France.
Mrs. Eddy entertained the B and T Club on Wednesday. Visitors Mr. Paul Moerman and Miss Anna De Boom of Archer spent Sunday at the Tony Moerman home. Herman Meyners of Shel doen was in town between trains Monday on business.
The second issue of liberty loan bonds kicked off at noon Monday with four weeks of activities aimed at at least 3 billion dollars in subscriptions. Secretary McAdoo opened the campaign in Cleveland and will tour the country including a stop in Shel don on Thursday.
On the sixth day of October the Farmers Co-Operative Creamery will sell surplus buttermilk and buy starter milk at public auction. The event is on Saturday at 4 o clock p.m. John Rensink secretary.
Hon John Morris Whitaker writes from Whitaker Pennsylvania dated Sept 26 describing a trip on the Lincoln Highway from Pittsburgh to Bedford County. He reports a pleasant rest period, enjoyable auto ride through mountains, scenic views, and numerous stops for refreshments while noting travel restrictions for visits per company rules.
W. H. Wahl of Westfield Iowa toured Holstein cattle herds in town Friday and Saturday and praised the quality of stock from leading breeders. He indicated a likely purchase of a sire for his dairy herd.
Local firm announces it has the agency for Moyer Barn Equipment with a full display and working outfit for inspection. The ad touts labor saving, durable materials, and daily year round use, inviting farmers to visit and view illustrations to understand construction.
