Friendship Train drive urged for relief through Council Bluffs

Community leaders mobilize to collect wheat and cash donations for the Friendship Train passing through Council Bluffs on November 12. Local churches and civic groups back a nonpolitical effort run by relief organizations to feed Europe, with families urged to donate the price of a sack of flour about four dollars.

Town Meeting Delights Boyden Community

The Boyden Women's Club hosts a Monday evening debate at the School House with pastors in the affirmative and Guy M. Gillette of Cherokee and Thomas Tweite of Morningside College in the negative. Questions earned two prizes for Lois Riem and two others. attendees included residents from George Hull Orange City Sioux Center and Sheldon.

Sidewalks Improve in Boyden as Works Near End

Boyden sees major street work with roads resurfaced and sidewalks nearing completion. Local businessmen, often on site, assist by removing old paths while residential sidewalks also get repaired. Some sections remain to be finished but will be replaced soon.

Tuesday November 11 at Boyden Town Hall photographers from Lloyd's Studio Des Moines will take free pictures of all residents under 15. Prizes include 1000 in pictures for first place and smaller amounts for other placements. No sales pressure and entries judged by Lloyd's department.
