A Friday evening storm in Boyden damaged the south area telephone cable cutting 12 residence lines 2 business lines and trunk lines to Hull and Sheldon. Lightning burned insulation welded wires and caused outages. R F Macheak Sheldon manager apologized and repair crews worked overnight to restore service.

Obituary for Mrs Tony Moerman nee Rika Van Mill

Mrs Tony Moerman nee Rika Van Mill died Thursday after a five day illness. Born June 5, 1866 in the Netherlands she was 82 years 4 months 23 days old. She arrived in 1887 and married June 4 1891 at Hudson S C. Survived by husband three daughters two sons three sisters three brothers 14 grandchildren nine great grandchildren. Funeral Monday at First Reformed Church with interment in Boyden Cemetery. Special music by Mrs Ray Smit and Mrs Larry Salmon. Pallbearers listed.

Equipment Added To Local Telephone Office In Boyden

R F Macheak of Northwestern Bell in Sheldon reports a 1250 expansion at the Boyden local dial office adding twenty subscriber circuits. The upgrade supports growing local calls and automatic switching, with 145 phones in Boyden now and 151 rural lines served from the local office.
