Poppy Sale Planned by American Legion Auxiliary Saturday
The American Legion Auxiliary will hold a poppy sale at Boyden on Saturday May 28 to support the war relief effort. Farmers Savings Bank is to receive any owed sums from the Smith-Howelson Lumber Company. The 4H Girls Club of Sheridan township meets Saturday afternoon May 28 with Mrs Eldora Heitritter and a school program is set for tonight May 26 in Capel township District No 6 rural school. Hemstitching services offered for May at 5c per yard then 9c. Mrs K Vande Garde Hull Iowa hosts. Mrs Jacob Van Leeuwen entertained friends at a birthday dinner last Thursday evening. Pigeons wanted season open pay 1.20 per dozen delivered Rock Valley Iowa by Valley Poultry Yards De Jong and Van t Hul Rock Valley Props.

Professor Buntley Honored at Community Gathering
Professor S H Buntley music instructor at Boyden public school was honored with a Monday evening surprise party in the high school auditorium. About two hundred attendees heard Rev Neil Stewart and Mr Stewart praise his twenty five years in public school music as the Glee Club performed and a Morris chair was presented.

Sioux City Boosters Visit Boyden on 1927 Goodfellowship Tour
The Sioux City boosters arrived in Boyden at 12 55 on their 1927 Goodfellowship tour. The train has twelve coaches and the Monahan Post Band and Drum Corps played for locals. Candy balloons and souvenirs were given to children and businesspeople. Ladies wore white felt hats and purple coats and carried white stockmen’s canes. The Junior-Senior banquet directed by Miss Gertrude Madden was a highlight of commencement week and a big success. Mrs. R Kamminga returned from Rochester Minnesota where her husband had unsuccessful goiter surgery and is recovering well. he is expected to be released around June 1.
