Infant Son of Henning Dies at Hull Hospital

Former Boyden Resident John Rensink Dies

John Rensink of Slayton Minnesota died Friday. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Slayton. His brother Gerrit Rensink of Long Beach California arrived by plane and Mrs. Mable Rensink of Hayfield Iowa came by train to attend. He was a former Boyden resident and brother to Mrs. R. Kamminga and Mrs. H. Van Nyhuis.

Bodies of Hull boys to be returned home

The bodies of two Hull Gold Star boys will arrive in Hull within the next month. Sergeant Marvin R. Koele, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Koele, was buried in a temporary Tunis cemetery in Tunisia. Lieutenant Raymond A. Koele, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry E. Koele, was laid to rest in a temporary Tunis cemetery in Tunisia.

Fire destroys barn near Baartman home in wind-driven blaze

Firefighters fought a barn fire at the Ed Baartman residence Tuesday afternoon. They saved the depot, lumber yard, and the business district from spreading flames driven by strong winds.

Boyden Man John H Warntjes Dies at 81

John H Warntjes aged 81 died Tuesday at Sheldon Hospital from a blood clot after several days illness. Born February 8 1867 in Ostfriesland Germany he immigrated at 24 and lived in Orange City Hull Sioux Center Perkins Boyden and near Boyden. He married Martha De Zeeuw in 1902 and left six children 18 grandchildren and two sisters. Funeral services are set for May 22 at home then First Reformed Church with Rev C Postma and Rev H Guikema. interment Boyden Cemetery.

Hoeven Honored to Preside Over Key House Debates

Legion Auxiliary Poster Prize Winners Named

At a Legion Auxiliary meeting the Boyden Auxiliary sponsored a poster contest. First prize went to Eleanore Baartman who received $15. Second prize was awarded to John Grooters for $3, Marion Vagts took third receiving $2. Fourth prize was a tie between Donald Doorenbos and Edward Den Herder at $1 each.

The Lake Okoboji Youth Conference of the Re formed Church moves to the Indian mission campus in Winnebago Neb from June 28 to July 2. Space limited to 100 youths with regional attendance encouraged by a Pella area event. Rev. Chester Postma will join the faculty. Plan to attend.
