The Lockwood-Duels Motor Co in Sheldon reports a new sales record for Saturday May 3 with five Dodge cars and three used autos sold and delivered. Names of buyers include Tra Vox Sibley Paul Freling Melvin Loyal Myers Sheldon J D Jongwaard Sheldon and W J Summe of George. Sales staffer Rens Jr aided the deals. Local social notes and visitors follow with brief mentions of callers and visits from Hull Spencer Boyden Rock Rapids Hills Minn and Alton. Spring tonic on sale at Hilton Bros Drug Store.
Miss Dorothy Stewart 23 a second grade teacher in Edgerton Minnesota collapses and dies while running out to greet a pupil at the door. The body was taken to Sioux Falls South Dakota for funeral services. Stewart a Winona Teachers College graduate had taught at Edgerton for two years.
Farm Bureau notes a Mothers Welfare meeting at Boyden town hall on Friday afternoon May 16 under County Farm Bureau auspices. A state worker will discuss and show pictures. Miss Aleene Wilson H D A leads these sessions across the county. women of the town and surrounding community are urged to attend.
Jim Verhoef was appointed town marshal and general town utility man by the town council at their last regular meeting succeeding Henry VanRoekel. The office is awarded on bids as per state code. Verhoef is described as genial and capable for the role amid expected public scrutiny of the position. The column also notes local social visits and family news from Sioux City and nearby towns.
