Scarlet fever and smallpox are prevalent in Orges City with many cases reported. Officials say it is unnecessary to close all schools or impose a general quarantine. Public gatherings are strictly forbidden.
The Inde pendent School District of Boyden Town will hold its annual election on March 12 1930. S G Vandenbrink seeks another two year term as treasurer and Gerrit Rensink is nominated for a three year director seat to replace R Smit. Election hours run from 12 noon to 7 pm in the Town Hall. Wally Nevelder reports success in Chang Chow China where he recently graduated 69 boys and notes his own weight of 196 pounds.
The Women’s Citizenship Club arranges a March 12 program for the Parent-Teachers Association. Highlights include Boyden Orchestra on Iowa history by Herman VanderWell, national figures by S. G. VandenBrink, Town Federation notes by Mrs Work, Rev Clyde, and soloist Ethel Pryde. Each topic stays brief for a lively evening.
