The Henry Heusinkveld sale drew strong bids with cattle up to 135 dollars and calves four months old at 63 dollars. The Herman Van der Naald auction grossed 5000 dollars without cattle or machinery offered. Ben Meylink thanked local farmers for their patronage this sale season.
The Ladies' Aid society of the Christian school reports net proceeds of 215 dollars from a well attended sale. Bidding was spirited and the event described as a real success.
Messrs. Dick De Groot and Joe Mouw bought the De Valois farm from C. Gorzeman for 181.00 dollars per acre. Connie De Valois farms the place and possession is set for March 1, 1930. Also lists jurors for the March 1930 district court term and mentions local bakery offerings and a visit to the Vander Well home in Rock Valley.
The Daily Record reports butter use in Iowa has surged sales by about 100 percent, per state Secretary of Agriculture Mark G. Thornburg. Creameries note reduced shipments to eastern markets due to strong home demand. Numerous towns ban oleomargarine with local penalties and storekeepers in Worth County plan to forfeit 25 dollars to the cooperative creamery if oleomargarine is sold starting March 1.
The Gamma Mu Chapter presented Art Maris with a Past Grand Master's jewel at the last regular meeting to honor his year as president. He is noted as an outstanding senior dental student in scholarship and activities.
Mr and Mrs Pen Ver Sloef and several friends motored to Rock Valley Monday evening to surprise Mr and Mrs Bill Ver Hoef on their twentieth wedding anniversary. They presented the couple with a floor lamp.
George Schwartz, 63, a Boyden area farmer, died in a Sioux City hospital from blood poisoning after a hand wound from old iron two weeks earlier. Born in Holland on August 29, 1866, he immigrated to the United States and settled in Boyden.
Neighbors and friends gathered Wednesday evening at the Westra home near Boyden to celebrate Jake Westra turning 52. The informal gathering ended with refreshments and included many local families from Boyden.
A birthday gathering honored Mrs J T Lutjene on Tuesday as family and friends presented gifts and shared in the 72nd birthday event. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Peter Kruse, Mrs John Stegeman and daughters Tina Ida and Anna, Mr and Mrs William Kruse and daughters, Mrs Anna Tiedemann, Mr and Mrs John Tiedemann, Mrs Anna Sohl, Mr and Mrs Carl Stueven and children, and Mrs Gust Sohl.
A large group from Sioux Center and nearby towns gathered Friday to celebrate the twenty fifth wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. John Dykstra, receiving gifts. An adult Bible conference convened at Trinity church in Orange City with multiple ministers and congregants attending. A later shower honored Miss Jennie Ver Hoef at the Albert Dethmers home with kitchenware gifts and refreshments. Local ads note hats, dry cleaning, and weather gear from Kooiman's Store alongside a report of the Valley Ball clubs from Boyden and Alton. Mrs. H. H. Pressler’s father Wm. J.
