De Valois farm sells for 181 an acre

Messrs. Dick De Groot and Joe Mouw bought the De Valois farm from C. Gorzeman for 181.00 dollars per acre. Connie De Valois farms the place and possession is set for March 1, 1930. The Daily Record reports butter use in Iowa has surged sales by about 100 percent, per state Secretary of Agriculture Mark G. Thornburg. Creameries note reduced shipments to eastern markets due to strong home demand. Numerous towns ban oleomargarine with local penalties and storekeepers in Worth County plan to forfeit 25 dollars to the cooperative creamery if oleomargarine is sold starting March 1.

Blood Poisoning Claims Life of Boyden Farmer George Schwartz

George Schwartz, 63, a Boyden area farmer, died in a Sioux City hospital from blood poisoning after a hand wound from old iron two weeks earlier. Born in Holland on August 29, 1866, he immigrated to the United States and settled in Boyden.

Twenty Fifth Anniversary Celebrations and Local Notices
