The annual election of the Independent School District of Boyden was tame with about fifty voters. Gerrit Rensink won the school director seat for three years to replace Ring Smit, who resigned. SS. G. VandenBrink was re-elected treasurer.
Hon Ed H Campbell will headline the National Farm and Home Hour broadcast from Washington on March 19 at 11 15 CST. He is a U S Representative from Iowa and will discuss The Farm Problem. He is described as an able speaker with a timely message for Iowa listeners.
The Northwestern Junior College and Academy remain closed due to yearlet fever, with seven student cases reported. School work may resume March 17. Local property sales, obituaries, and multiple community notices follow, including visits, illnesses, and advertisements.
Alton Newkirk and Orange City merchants join a ban on oleomargarine. In Newkirk a proprietor told Wargowsky and VanderBosch that he stopped selling the substitute after a period of heavy demand, noting only a few pounds sold in recent weeks.
Mr and Mrs Ben Grooters celebrated their twenty fifth wedding anniversary at their Boyden home Friday evening. The event drew many relatives and friends from Orange City Primghar Pella Des Moines and other nearby towns. A Farm Bureau Auxiliary meeting will be held March 18 at Mrs Wm Meyns home with Tailored Finishing as the demonstration.
N W Bell Telephone Company completed a major upgrade in Boyden with aerial cable replacing old open wire, new poles and lightening arresters, and extensive wiring replacement. The project, costing about 8000 dollars, aimed to reduce noise and improve service for residents and businesses.
