Reverend Henry Bank leads the United Presbyterian Church with Sunday School at 9 45 A M Morning Worship at 11 A M and Evening Worship at 7 30 P M including a Sunday program led by Pastor Bank.
St John Lutheran Church will join St Pauls for a mission festival on Sunday June 21 with services at 10:30 led by Pastor John Heronymus from Nebraska and 2:30 led by Pastor Theo Winter from Texas. Luther League meets at 8:00 PM in the school auditorium with discussions on Make the Most of Sunday and The New Atom and the Old Adam. Visitors welcome.
A $25 reward is offered by the Boyden Commercial Club for information leading to the arrest and conviction of anyone who defaces the Boyden sign at the south end of Main Street.
The Boyden program lists an afternoon lineup with a 1:30 Midget Ball Game 2:45 Girls Ball Game and 4:00 Free Acts. Evening features a 7:30 Free Acts All Star Ball Game a 8:30 Sheldon versus Boyden and a 9:45 fireworks display.
Miss Maybelle Reimann will present her pupils Muriel Koerselman and Joyce Koerselman in a piano recital Friday evening June 19 at 8 00 in the Western Christian High School auditorium Hull Iowa Lorraine Schol De Jong of George will assist with songs Both Koerselmans have won superior ratings at the Iowa State Music Contests Public invited.
A son was born to Mr and Mrs Arnold Kroese at the Sheldon hospital on June 9. The baby boy weighed 8 pounds 1.5 ounces and has been named Terry Lee. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Eldon Blaisdell and Mrs Elsie Kroese.
Mr and Mrs Willis Vande Hoef and Mrs Ale Froland with family and Johanna Marjean were joined by Mr and Waanders of Hull for a few days at Vacation Village last week.
Miss Shirley Arleen Kooiker and Arrman First Class Paul H Kaminga wed Sunday June 7 in Nashua Iowa with Rev. Glenn L Utterback officiating. The ceremony featured iris and ferns, music by Mrs H B Stewart and Dorothy Oldenkamp, and a reception for forty at the St Charles Hotel Charles City. The bride, a North western Junior College graduate, taught in Everly Iowa. the groom, in the US Air Force, stationed at Smoky Hill AFB near Salina Kansas. they planned a California wedding trip.
Anona Alice Rensink wed Frank M. Elliott at First Reformed Church Boyden on June 12 in a ceremony overseen by Rev H Steunenberg. The bride wore a gown of white Japanese silk with lace and seed pearls while attendants wore green and rose gowns. A reception for 120 followed with family and out of town guests from Texas California and Iowa. The couple will reside in West Branch Iowa after July 1.
Mrs Jake Westra hosted a birthday evening at her Sheldon home Tuesday. Guests included Mr and Mrs Albert Van Gorp and family, Mr and Mrs Howard Van Kekerix and Jackie, Mr and Mrs Peter J Westra and family, Mr Sam Van Kekerix and Martha Mae, Mr and Mrs Herman Dieterman and Mr and Mrs John Houtsma, Mr and Mrs Henry J Westra, Mr and Mrs Junior Reuvers and son, and Mr and Mrs Frank Schafer. A two course luncheon followed the social hour.

Miss Dorothy Oldenkamp daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm Oldenkamp. Mr Richard Auberg son of Mr and Mrs Henry Auberg Sr of Los Angeles Calif will wed Friday evening June 19 at the First Reformed Church Boyden. Public invited to witness.

Merle M. Den Herder of Boyden Iowa was accepted for enlistment in the U S Navy at Omaha Nebraska on June 11 1953 and is now in recruit training at the U S Naval Training Center in San Diego California.
Mrs. Nick Rouwenhorst returns home from Sheldon hospital. Gerald Slothouber suffers a severe arm fracture. Richard Van Diepen expected home from Veterans hospital in Sioux Falls this week.
Leo Lowery age 83 of Fond du Lac Wisconsin died at his daughter’s home in Fond du Lac last week. He formerly lived in Boyden and 55 years ago operated a hardware store with his brother David Lowery before it was sold to the Bergman brothers.
Odgen Utah couple Mr and Mrs Marvin Gerritsen and son Chris and Brent Hunter were honored guests Saturday evening at a luncheon hosted by Chris Vanden Berg. Other attendees included Mrs Harold Miller and children from Titonka Iowa and Mrs John Den Hartog from Orange City.
Mr and Mrs Henry Van Velzen and guests visited Sioux Falls and called on Henry Van Veldhuiz en in the Veterans hospital. Mrs Chester Sitter Karen and Mrs Bert Engelsman Danny visited Sioux Center. The Greens and Gary stopped by John D Stegemann’s home Thursday evening. Paul Schreuder visited Mrs Joe Stientjes in Sheldon Saturday evening. Walter Dickevers family and Mrs John Humme were Sunday dinner guests at Arie Struyk’s home.

Mr and Mrs Walter Diekevers and Mr Marvin Diekevers departed last Monday evening for a several week visit with relatives in California. The Diekevers will stay with Mrs Hilda Long as house guests while Marvin joins his wife and daughter who have been vacationing there.
