John Vander Hout leaves Saturday for North Holland to visit relatives and friends for two months arriving Amsterdam Tuesday morning. A wedding in Des Moines unites Dorothy DeValois and Charles Wynia with a double ring ceremony and a large local attendance.
The Boyden Reporter introduces Norman W. Bell as new editor and publisher. He invites residents to bring news and stories, promising a newspaper that reflects local feelings and serves the community with news and advertising. Contact is offered at 3301.
Attention all Legion men. A special Legion meeting will be held June 18 at 8 00 in Town Hall. Every member is urged to attend and be loyal to your post. Commander L V Grooters urges all to come and participate.
Intermediate Girl Scouts toured the Creamery to obtain a box for Holland and later wrote letters to a Dutch family with Mrs. George Diekevers photographing the group. The notice also advertises 70 cent per gallon fly spray from Boyden Co op and weed spraying services offered by the County Weed Commissioner. Miss Corina Baartman and Marjorie Van Houte attend summer school at LeMars.

On Saturday June 14 the Boyden Co operative Association will open its new service station with a public lunch from 2 to 5 PM. The modern facility features a front office for oils greases auto accessories and tires, a main lubrication room with a grease hoist and pit, a car wash with pressure cleaning equipment, reinforced concrete grounds, brick building and efficient ventilation. John De Jong and crew built the structure and Walter Dickevers installed the plumbing and heating systems.
A miscellaneous shower was held Thursday evening May 29 at the home of Wilma Rensink in Ashton. Guests included Mrs James Kool, Arlene Scholten, Mrs Victor Scholten of Sheldon, G Rensing, Laurence Rensink, Myrtle Sheets of George, and others. The evening featured bingo and a lunch.
Ruthie Jacobsma daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Jacobsma had a narrow escape Monday when her car tipped and she fell into the path of a truck driven by Dutch Moret. He hit brakes and stopped only a few feet away.
Leonard Ren sink of Boyden earns Long Time Production certificates from the Iowa Holstein Breeders Association for two cows. Fern Prince Ormsby produced 70 807 lbs milk and 2 458 8 lbs fat in 1 665 days, while Josephine produced 59 283 lbs milk and 2 038 lbs fat in 1 606 days. Awards require at least 2 000 pounds butterfat. Other notes mention local graduates and visitors from Muskegon and Des Moines as well as Henry De Jong returning home for summer.
