Rev Henri Steunenberg leads morning worship at 9 30 A M and afternoon worship at 1 30 P M Sunday School is at 8 00 P M Christian Endeavor follows at 7 30 P M including the church calendar of activities for the day.

St John Lutheran announces German service at 8 00 A M Sunday School at 9 00 A M Adult Bible Class at 9 15 A M and English service at 10 15 A M led by Pastor H J Knoploh.
A community daily vacation Bible school will run June 8 to June 19 sponsored by the Reformed and United Presbyterian churches of Boyden. Opening exercises occur at the United Presbyterian church with junior and intermediate sessions at the Reformed church for Bible study and handcrafts. All local boys and girls aged 4 to 15 are invited for Bible study singing and handwork.
A mixed shower for Dorothy Oldenkamp daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm Oldenkamp was held at her parents home in Sheldon. Guests from Sanborn Sioux Center Alton Boyden and Orange City attended. Miss Oldenkamp will wed Richard Auberg of Le Mars on June 19.
Mr and Mrs Cornie Van Meeteren welcomed a 9 pound son born Wednesday May 27 at the Sheldon hospital. He has nine brothers and three sisters. Mr and Mrs Wayne Greving of 535 North 17th Street Colorado Springs Colorado became parents to their first child a son Steven Wayne who weighed 6 pounds 13 ounces. Mrs Greving taught at Boyden school last year.
Mrs. Anne Baartman travels with Mr and Mrs Art Thomassen and their children from Sheldon to spend Memorial Day at the Ed Baartman home in Kenneth Minnesota.
Mr and Mrs Henry Harman marked 50 years of marriage with a May 27 1903 wedding date in Hull Iowa and a family dinner in United Presbyterian Church parlors in Boyden. About 200 relatives joined in as five children Kenneth Irene Dorothy Howard Melvin reside nearby and 25 grandchildren plus 3 great grandchildren attended. The event featured a three tier cake and a program by children and grandchildren.
Dr and Mrs Giese of Hull hosted a Wednesday steak fry at their home in honor of Mr and Mrs John Fischer and daughter who depart Friday for Fort Dodge Indiana to spend the summer. Guests included Mr and Mrs John Fischer and daughter Jackie and Mr and Mrs Arthur Kruelen and daughter Cathy. Mr and Mrs Norman Bell could not attend.
All kids with Jr League or Midget baseball suits or knowing their whereabouts should return the suits to Henry Van Velzen.
Norvan Roggen of Boyden will attend a six week infantry summer camp at Fort Lewis Washington beginning June 13. The camp is part of field work required for members of the advanced Reserve Officers Training Corps at the University of South Dakota.
Attendees included Mr and Mrs Wm J Moret and children and Mr and Mrs John Moret at the De Groot and Moret family reunion in Sheldon park. Dwight Vander Haar and children of Howard Lake Minnesota visited the Horn home for the holiday weekend. Bernard De Jong and children with their father Gerrit Van den Bosch left Saturday to visit Henry Vanden Bosch home in Fertile Iowa.
SICK Gertrude Mouw who has suffered many heart attacks at the Ed parents home at Sanborn was moved to Grossman hospital in Orange City Thursday. Mrs Elizabeth Van Diepen is sick at her home with a liver infection and Mr Richard Van Diepen is ill with Malta fever.
Mr and Mrs Henry Bosman entertained Monday evening honoring their daughter Margaret Ann on her 12th birthday. Guests included Mr and Mrs Wm Vlieger and girls of Rock Rapids, Mr and Mrs Wilbur Vander Tuig and sons of Sheldon, and Mr and Mrs Larry Salmon and children. A social evening concluded with a fine two course luncheon.
Mrs. Henry Kuiper of Doon visited Wednesday at the Ed Baartman residence. Sunday guests at the Herbert Horn home included Mr. and Mrs. Henry Slykhuis and children of Ashton and Ernest Bruns of George.
Entertained at tea a small group Thursday afternoon at a home with guests including Mrs. De Vries of Bode Iowa and Mrs. Schortinghuis of Sheldon. Local news notes say Walter Vander Well Jr. visited the John Hilton home Sunday evening. Honor children events tale mark birthday and graduation with a farm host, a two course luncheon follows, guests listed from Westra and related families.
The Newkirk Reformed church hosted a spring wedding at 8 pm Thursday for Miss Winifred De Haan daughter of Mr and Mrs Louis De Haan Hospers and Mr Gerrit John Bosman son of Mr and Mrs Henry Bosman. The ceremony officiated by Rev Robert H Schuller featured lilac decor and satin bows.
Mrs Henry Ruyter entertained a group of children Tuesday afternoon at her home for Farrells fifth birthday. Attendees included Danny Engelsman Ronnie Hurst Marvin Heemskirk Bradley Kooiker Allan Baartman Ronald Engelsman Marlin Vis Anthony Vis Glenda Koerselman and Alan Van Veldhuizen. Children played games then enjoyed ice cream and cake.
Norv Roggen of Boyden has been named to the 1953 Dakota Day committee at the University of South Dakota. The theme is There’s Music in the Air for homecoming activities and each parade float will center on a song title. Roggen will be a senior at USD next year.

Highlights include Donald Van Veldhuizen’s commencement in Sioux Falls and Melvin Prins at Sioux Center.
