Double Wedding Anniversary Celebrated at Horn Home

February 14 brought a joyful double wedding anniversary at Mr. and Mrs. Lute Horn as Mr. and Mrs. John Rohlfs marked seven years and Mr. and Mrs. C. Rehberg celebrated thirty-seven years. A noon dinner and afternoon luncheon followed with family and friends including the Rohlfs, Rehbergs, Herman Rohlfs, George Horn, Will Keistin, and guests from Maurice and Des Moines.

Farmers Co operative Association Holds Annual Meeting

The Farmers Co operative Association held its annual meeting at the town hall on February 18. A dividend of 10 percent on stock and 10 percent on the waseline and oils was declared. President De Groot of Orange City gave a strong address. All directors were re elected except John Vander Maaten, replaced by John Dorrenbos. Mens Henning and Dickevers are managers and were praised along with the directors for harmony with stockholders.

Women’s Missionary Society Presents The Power of the Living Gospel

The United Presbyterian Church Women’s Missionary Society hosts a February 25 7 30 pm church program featuring a pantomime O Zion Haste a playlette Out of the Dark and a pageant The Power of the Living Gospel A free will offering is taken and all are welcome Also notes: Dén Beste family moved goods to Sibley and Jacob Kline family holding sale and planning move to Sheldon plus City Bakery changes to install rear machinery.

Farmers Co Op Creamery Has Successful Meeting

The Farmers Co operative Creamery of Boyden Iowa held its annual meeting on February 13 1930 at Town Hall. President Henry Kortekamp led the session with remarks about Boyden being “Oleo dry” and auditor Louis Anderson read the approved annual report. Brunner spoke on raising butterfat prices noting underconsumption as the cause and urging more usage. Officers were re elected nearly unanimously. John Thompson of Wallaces Farmer spoke on farming matters and Wentworth of the Pennsylvania Railroad closed the meeting. Patrons enjoyed a butter spread lunch and inspected the new creamery, expressing satisfaction with its management.

Pete and George Van Dyke from Marion South Dakota spent a few days this week in the R Kimminga home. Rev and Mrs Rodman from New kirk were visitors in the Rev Brink home Monday. H J Van Veldhuizen and children were Sunday evening visitors in the Garrett W Aalberts home near Orange City.

The Ladies Aid of the School of Christian Instruction will hold its annual sale at the Town Hall on Wednesday February 26. Former Boyden man killed in Laguna Beach accident

Elwin L Eckert a San Diego attorney and former Boyden resident died after an SUV overturn near Laguna Beach. Eckert 4022 Ohio St left a widow and two infants and is survived by his mother two sisters and three brothers of San Diego. An inquest was held in San Clemente with Orange County officials and the body to be shipped to San Diego for burial.

High School Notes and Declamatory Winners

The county declaratory contest was held in Orange City with winners from Arecanwinis Sioux Center and Boyden. Lorraine McCrum won first and Gerrit second for Boyden high, with Miss Voss credited for coaching. A Valentine party at the high school featured a program by the Holian Literary Society and a surprise engagement announcement by Mr Van Der Weal.
