Eligible farmers receive negotiable certificates for up to 100 percent of their idle land output and earn price support only if they participate. A 1 billion bushel set aside would serve emergencies and certain restricted sales.

Former Hull Couple Celebrates Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary
Mr and Mrs William E Shimp marked 60 years of marriage at their Redondo Beach home on January 3. Married January 3 1900 in Sheldon Iowa they lived in Hull Iowa 46 years where he ran a lumber business before retiring in 1930. They have 16 grandchildren and six great grandchildren with six children and several relatives attending from Pomona Burlington Redondo Beach Alaska Alberta Canada Reed City and Michigan. A scrapbook gift from Carl M Oelrich Pomona documented five generations.

Hull Co op Gas and Oil Company shareholders met as president Ivan Kroese was ill with Richard Rikkers presiding. The group approved an expansion plan and elected new directors Arnold Humme Alfred Tiedemann and Peter Kroese. Net savings for 1959 were 46435.14 with allocations for taxes reserves patronage refunds and an education fund. Refunds totaling 34456.22 were issued and 2936260 gallons were transported last year.

About 350 high school musicians from Rock Valley Floyd Valley Sioux Center Maurice- Orange City West Sioux and Boyden-Hull gathered at the Community Memorial Building Hull for a County Band Festival. A 350 piece massed band joined individual groups under guest conductor William B. Green of Buena Vista College Storm Lake Iowa for a public concert.

Western Christian high school hosted Akron for boys and girls games last Friday with boys 57 to 48 and girls 48 to 5 in favor of Western. Tuesday February 8 saw Western boys win the A game 63 to 35 and lose the B game 43 to 39 at Remsen. The season ends Friday February 12 with Rock Valley visiting Hull for A and B boys contests.
