The Farmers Cooperative Produce Association of Boyden will hold its 14th annual meeting on Thursday February 4 1960 at 1 30 PM in the Boyden Public School Iowa. The session will cover any business before the group and review the annual report with door prizes offered.
Marius Evertse of Dykstra Produce was seriously injured last Friday when his right arm was crushed between two truck boxes. He received first aid from Dr Swanson and was rushed to St Joseph hospital in Sioux City, surgery performed, and he is expected to be laid up several months.
The regular Commercial Club dinner meeting will be held on Monday February 8 at 12 00 noon at the Legion Hall in Boyden. All members and friends are invited. A film will be shown following the dinner.
Mr and Mrs Bert Bonestroo of Perkins plan a fortieth wedding anniversary on Thursday February 4 1960. A family gathering with a few friends will be held in the basement of the Community Memorial Building in Hull.
The Busy Bees 4-H Club meets February 13 at the Legion Hall in Boyden for a Valentine party and a club meeting. Members will finish sewing box projects.

Sioux County Barracks Veterans of World War I USA will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7 30 p m Thursday February 11 in Orange City. Commander Ed Te Veltrup of Sioux Center announced the session will dispense with the usual potluck supper and address several important World War I veterans items.
The seventh annual Sheridan Township United Charities meeting will be held at School No. 4 on Saturday February 13 1960 at 10 00 a.m. The executive board seeks attendance and guidance for the 1960 drive with officer elections. Albert L. Winter secretary.
Hull Business and Professional Men's Club reports the sale of house numbers is about two-thirds finished. If not contacted, ask a local businessman to deliver a set or buy at the City Clerk's Office. Proceeds fund partial payment for corner street markers.
Mrs. Ed Den Herder was named as winner at the Boyden Bowl and Cafe during the $25 drawing held Saturday afternoon. One more $25 prize remains for the next drawing on Saturday February 6 at 3 00 p m.
The Hull Cooperative Gas and Oil Company held its annual shareholders meeting on Wednesday afternoon. A report of the meeting will appear in next week's Index.
Boyden Hull defeated Rock Valley 43 to 40 in a tough game Friday as Freerks and Zuiderhof led scoring. The locals also beat Rock Valley seconds 38 to 23. Floyd Valley edged Boyden Hull 49 to 46 with Freerks outstanding and Grooters leading the comeback. the Boyden Hull seconds won 32 to 29. The season ends Friday in Hull against Inwood with a squad reshuffle after Vernon De Jongh’s discipline.
Dates for annual stockholders meetings of Farmers Co-Operatives in Hull and Boyden announced for the next two weeks. Farmers Co-Op Produce in Boyden on February 4 and Farmers Co-Op Creamery in Boyden on February 11 hold special sessions.
Homemakers of Welcome and Center Township will meet Tuesday February 9 at Sioux Center Town Hall at 1 15 p m. Hostesses are Mrs Lawrence Green and Mrs Theron Mulder. Program on broiling led by Mrs Sam Altena Mrs Jim De Boer Mrs Gerrit H Te Slan and Mrs Gerald Kroese. Roll call patriotic thought.
The Sioux County Junior Red Cross reports approximate enrollment and contributions from December 1959 drives. Schools such as St Marys Elem, Floyd Valley H S, Granville Ind Elem, Hull Christian Elem, Orange City Chr Elem, Maurice-Orange Elem and H S, Rock Valley Com Elem and High, Sioux Center Chr Elem, and Lynn-Zuiderweg contributed a total of 579.26 dollars with several schools not reporting. Not all schools submitted figures.
Bernard Wolfswinkel of Hull resigns from Koyker Manufacturing after 30 years service as office manager effective March 1. In a Wednesday press statement he said his future plans are undecided.
Koyker Mfg Co launches a 7.4 inch diameter Farm Auger with lengths up to 51 feet for on the farm use. The test model ran continuously without failure handling grain similar to real farm use. The Farm Auger joins the sister model The Grain Dipper, already popular with commercial operators, backed by 16 features.
The German Farmers Mutual Insurance Association will hold its annual meeting Monday February 8 1960 at 1:00 p m at the Eagles Hall Le Mars Iowa. Election of directors and other business may come before the meeting.
Hull club holds monthly meeting February 8 at 8 p.m. in the Community Memorial Building Legion Room. All members urged to attend. A Farm Bureau representative will give a short talk on Legislative Reapportionment following the meeting.

Farm Bureau Women sponsor four year scholarships for Farm boys intending teaching careers. Applications are sent to Sioux County high schools. Eligibility requires farm residence and top third class ranking. Two Sioux County students advance to state competition among 18 finalists. Larry Van Fossen, Extension Agriculture Engineer from Iowa State University, will discuss Mechanized Feed Handling on the Farm. The talk is Thursday evening February 18 at 8 00 o clock in the Sioux Center High School auditorium. Sponsored by the Sioux County Extension Service and Vocational Agriculture Department. Open to everyone.
The notice reports several housing moves in Boyden. Eugene Egdorf and wife moved into a new east Main street home owned by their grandfather Henry Schloetie, from Rensink apartments. Arthur Klaarenbeek and wife will relocate from the Lee Rensink farm to the Rensink apartments. he works at the local Co-op Elevator.
The Lincoln Loggers 4 H Club met at Ronald Costra’s home with nine members present including one new member, one leader, and one guest. Reports were read and accepted. Dad’s Night for February was planned. Johnny Haveman and La Verne Rens tasked with obtaining films. Dale Pollema demonstrated table setting. Ronald Costra spoke on ladder safety. Morris Netting received a club gift from Johnny Haveman for three years of service. lunch followed and games of Rock were played for entertainment.
Sioux County annual band festival in Hull features guest conductor William B. Green from Buena Vista College and the Boyden Hull high school band. Over 300 instrumentalists from six schools will perform massed pieces after individual showcases and a lunch break, with part of the event themed around Footlifter March and Jingle Bells Rhapsody.
The Boyden Firemen hosted a banquet at the Legion Hall last Thursday to honor Fireman Robert Henning for 27 years of service before presenting him a fine gift. Attendees included Fire Chief Ray Smit and numerous families. Fire Marshal Ray Van Diepen and Case De Roon attended. absent were Larry Salmon and his spouse.

The Boyden Commercial Club will sponsor an entertainment evening this Saturday February 6 at 7 30 p m at the Legion Hall. All members and their wives are invited and asked to bring a guest. The event features varied entertainment followed by a luncheon and aims for a strong turnout.
Sioux County Republicans plan a Lincoln Day continental dinner at Northwestern College Auditorium Orange City on February 11 at 6 30 p m. Tenative GOP candidates for state and national offices will attend including Charles B Hoeven Norman Erbe William Mooty Melvin Lynhorst Elmer H Den Herder J T Dykhouse and Maurice A Te Paske. Local meetings will feature brief candidate talks and a chance to meet them. Tickets available from the Central Committee or precinct committeemen.

Western Christian high school hosted West Sioux last Friday with both A and B team victories. The Western boys won 68 to 51 and the B team 34 to 28. On Tuesday February 2 the Western girls lost twice at Primghar by 60 55 and 33 25. Next home games Friday February 5 feature Akron boys and girls visiting Hull.
