Marius Evertse Injured in Produce Plant Accident

Marius Evertse of Dykstra Produce was seriously injured last Friday when his right arm was crushed between two truck boxes. He received first aid from Dr Swanson and was rushed to St Joseph hospital in Sioux City, surgery performed, and he is expected to be laid up several months.

Boyden Hull defeated Rock Valley 43 to 40 in a tough game Friday as Freerks and Zuiderhof led scoring. The locals also beat Rock Valley seconds 38 to 23. Floyd Valley edged Boyden Hull 49 to 46 with Freerks outstanding and Grooters leading the comeback. the Boyden Hull seconds won 32 to 29. The season ends Friday in Hull against Inwood with a squad reshuffle after Vernon De Jongh’s discipline.

December 1959 Junior Red Cross enrollment by Sioux County schools

The Sioux County Junior Red Cross reports approximate enrollment and contributions from December 1959 drives. Schools such as St Marys Elem, Floyd Valley H S, Granville Ind Elem, Hull Christian Elem, Orange City Chr Elem, Maurice-Orange Elem and H S, Rock Valley Com Elem and High, Sioux Center Chr Elem, and Lynn-Zuiderweg contributed a total of 579.26 dollars with several schools not reporting. Not all schools submitted figures.

The Lincoln Loggers 4 H Club met at Ronald Costra’s home with nine members present including one new member, one leader, and one guest. Reports were read and accepted. Dad’s Night for February was planned. Johnny Haveman and La Verne Rens tasked with obtaining films. Dale Pollema demonstrated table setting. Ronald Costra spoke on ladder safety. Sioux County Band Festival Set for Hull February 8 1960

Sioux County annual band festival in Hull features guest conductor William B. Green from Buena Vista College and the Boyden Hull high school band. Over 300 instrumentalists from six schools will perform massed pieces after individual showcases and a lunch break, with part of the event themed around Footlifter March and Jingle Bells Rhapsody.

Western Christian high school hosted West Sioux last Friday with both A and B team victories. The Western boys won 68 to 51 and the B team 34 to 28.
