Herman Timmers Killed In Action in France

A telegram received Friday night announced that Herman Timmers was killed in action in France on November St. He was a longtime local resident from the Netherlands who worked for several farms and hauled water for E G Mahaffey during threshing season. He had no relatives in the country, all residing in Holland. The community conveys regret over the loss of another young man in the war.

Farm Bureau Annual Meeting Set in Orange City

The Sioux County Farm Bureau will meet Friday December 27 at 1 30 PM in the Court room Orange City to reorganize for three years. Both new and old members will receive official notices of the meeting.

Sioux County Breeders Association Plans January Meeting

The annual meeting of the Sioux County Breeders Association will be held before the first part of January. The group has about 125 members and welcomes new breeders who should contact the County Agent who is Secretary or plan to attend the meeting. New breeders will receive a meeting notice upon providing their names.

Herman Lymes cattle sale brings in 7800 dollars

The Herman Lymes sale last Thursday attracted a good crowd and totaled 7800 dollars. Herman offered twenty head of Pure-bred Short Horns and Double Standard Polled Durhams, all selling well. Auctioneers were Cols. J. A. Benson and C. Van Zyl, with W. H. Eddy as clerk.

Red Cross aims for 100 percent Sioux County membership

Henry P. Davison has announced no further national Red Cross war fund drives beyond the Christmas roll call December 16 to 23. Sioux County aims for full participation with every adult contributing at least $1 and every schoolchild joining the Junior Red Cross for 25 cents. Local campaign chairwoman Mrs. C. I. Sarset leads efforts, with Al Falkenhainer of Algona as state chairman and Joe McCormick of Cedar Rapids aiding. The campaign emphasizes a heart and a dollar, and Sunday December 15 was Red Cross Sunday nationwide.

Reyelts Memorial Service For John Henry Reyelts

John Henry Reyelts died in France of pneumonia at age 23. Memorial services will be held December 22 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church near Hull with Rev. P J Bunge. He was born March 2, 1895 in Sheridan Township and served in Camp Dodge and Camp Mills before shipping overseas. He died October 25, 1918 in France after influenza and pneumonia. He is survived by his mother, two brothers and five sisters along with many friends. The Reporter extends condolences to the bereaved.

Marriage of Miss Cora VandeHoef to Jerry Notting at Home

Miss Cora VandeHoef daughter of Mrs. Wm Vane deHoef near Boyden wed Mr. Jerry Notting last Thursday at the bride's mother's home. Rev Douwstra of Newkirk officiated with only immediate relatives present. The couple will live with the bride's mother for the winter while deciding a permanent home.
