Victor Z. Brink of Matlock Iowa has been named executive assistant to Ford Motor Company Lincoln Division VP Ben D. Mills. Brink, a former styling operations manager, joined Ford in 1949 and held multiple posts including controller and assistant GM of the Aircraft Engine Division. He is a Lincoln University and Columbia graduate, WWII Army lieutenant colonel, and author of Internal Auditing.

Candyland Revue to Headline Clay County Fair September

The Clay County Fair will stage the Candyland Revue nightly September 10 to 15 presented by Barnes-Carruthers Theatrical Enterprizes of Chicago. The lavish show features animated candylife dance numbers, the Bon Bon Ballet, Ballet Deception and a dream sequence. It stars Dean Allen as emcee with Dick Court and Genie Saunders singing, plus Sam Levy heads the production with costly costumes and a slate of acts including Miller-Woodcock Elephants and Jerry Mrad Harmonicats. Publisher Paul C Woods dies. Sheldon Mail founder

Paul C Woods longtime publisher of the Sheldon Mail and O'Brien county Republican chairman died Sunday at 79 after a press day collapse. He moved to Sheldon in 1913 and built a prize winning family paper with his children. Funeral held Wednesday at Van der Ploeg with burial in East Lawn cemetery. He was honored as an Iowa master publisher in 1940 and had a long civic career in Sheldon.

Boyden: Boy Takes Top Honor at Sioux County Fair

Two first time winners captured major awards in the baby beef show at the Sioux County Youth Fair. Lester Harman, 12, Boyden, won grand championship with a 1 010 pound purebred Angus calf while 17 year old Keith Rolston, Sheldon, took reserve with a 1 115 pound Shorthorn. The 170 head event had top placings shared by Den Herder family members from Sioux Center. Paul Den Herder claimed top Angu s and Gerald and Carol Den Herder earned reserve titles for Herefords.

Tuesday evening Mr and Mrs Ray Brockhouse hosted at Hammers Lemars for Mrs Brockhouse birthday and Mr and Mrs Robert Dethmers 20th wedding anniversary. The Mouw family visited Mrs Henry Schoeneman at Rock Rapids hospital Wednesday evening. Mrs Schoeneman returned home Friday.

Telephone Day program brings Bell exhibits to Boyden

Citizens of Boyden and nearby areas are invited to a Telephone Day led by A S Boucher of Northwestern Bell.
