Miss Sharon Ruyter has completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base Texas on July 28 and will travel August 18 to Charleston AFB South Carolina to train as ground and flight hostess staying with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ruyter.

Porter Hospital patient Arie Bomgaars to return home soon

SICK and INJURED Mr. Arie M. Bomgaars remains a patient at Porter Hospital in Denver, Colorado, and is reported doing quite well. He is expected home by plane with his wife and Mrs. Bob Den Hartog the end of this week. Mrs Andrew Rosenboom returned home Wednesday from the Lutheran hospital in Sioux City. She is doing quite well following her surgery two weeks ago.

The Boyden Fire Department has purchased a three quarter ton pickup to aid in protection. The unit will carry 750 feet of fire hose for immediate use at all times.

William R. Rodgers Completes Eight Weeks of Training

Army Pvt. William R. Rodger, 22, whose wife Rose Mary lives in Ashton Iowa, finished eight weeks of basic combat training at Fort Chaffee Arkansas. Rodger, a 1952 Sheldon High School graduate and former carpenter for Wissink Construction in Sheldon, is son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Rodger of Sheldon.

Eugene Egdorf Completes Basic Training At Chaffee

Pvt. Eugene L. Egdorf completes eight weeks of basic combat training at Fort Chaffee Arkansas under the Reserve Forces Act program. He is from Boyden Iowa where his wife Lorraine and parents Mr and Mrs Earnest Egdorf reside. He attended Boyden High School and worked at B & B Repair Shop before enlistment.

Sheridan Livestock Growers Meeting at 8:00 AM

The Sheridan Livestock Growers 4 H Club opened at the Herman Vander Vliet home on Monday August 5 with sixteen members and two leaders present. Donald Slothouber was chosen to replace Gary Uittenbogaard in the team demonstration with Gary Green. A roast lunch followed, and Gerald Slothouber served as reporter.

Mayor Court Fines For Traffic Violations in Boyden

Marshal Henry Ruyter arrested two individuals in Boyden for traffic violations. Kenneth Baartman was summoned for speeding and fined 700 dollars with costs. Henry W. Langstraat of Hull pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace over a faulty muffler and paid 12 dollars with costs. Mayor Slothouber oversaw the cases.

Robert Henning of the Boyden Cooperative Elevator oversees nearly thirty freight cars loaded with 44 000 bushels of Commodity Credit soybeans.
