Members of the Boyden Bowling Leagues and families will attend the annual post season banquet on Tuesday May 3 in the Community Memorial Building basement Hull. L Trio Catering Service will serve the meal. Trophies patches prizes and a speech will be awarded. Ticket sales promise a full house.
Floyd Valley topped Boyden Hull 6 to 3 in Hull with W Zuiderhof R Groeters and D Hesla rotating on the mound. Roos earned the win for Floyd Valley while Boyden Hull used three pitchers. In the sectional at Larchwood Hull Western Christian edged Boyden Hull 5 4 as all Western runs came on errors with Bob De Jong the winning pitcher.
Henry Vande Griend 78 of Hull died suddenly Monday afternoon from a heart attack while on a tractor. Funeral services are Friday April 29 at 1:00 p.m. at the Hull home and 1:30 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church. Rev. H. C. Van Deelen will officiate with interment at Hope Cemetery.
The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 272 Boyden Iowa met Monday evening April 18 with twelve Junior and twenty-one Senior members present. Debates included a prayer book contest deadline May 16 and bake sale May 7 at Peters Store.
The annual Summer Round-up for children entering kindergarten next fall will be held next week Thursday May 5. Hull attendees meet at 1 00 pm and Boyden attendees at 2 00 pm at the gym stage. Dr A G Dittmer will examine teeth with no charge. Physical exams outside school. bring to Dr Swanson by May 20 1960 with $3 charge. inoculations funded by PTA. Lunch served after.
The Tenth Annual Spring Rally of the Northwestern Iowa Group of the Women’s Missionary Federation of the American Lutheran Church will meet May 5 at Immanuel Lutheran Church Rock Rapids Iowa. Rev S Meyer hosts with Frau Freda Niemann of Germany as speaker. Morning devotions at 10 00. afternoon at 1 30. luncheon in church parlors. 14 societies in Northwest Iowa belong to the Group. Visitors welcome for a day of relaxation education and inspiration.
Lincoln Township Farm Bureau Women held Friday at Mrs. Bert De Zeeuw home. Mrs. E. Van Veldhuizen led devotions. Twenty-one ladies attended. Plans were made to attend the Orange City Farm Bureau Meeting on April 26. Miss Fola Booth taught sewing tips and Mrs. Wm Van't Hul demonstrated toy animals. Hostesses were Mrs. B De Zeeuw and Mrs. Wm. Riphagen who served lunch.
A contest to name Iowa’s new summer camp for crippled children is announced by Thomas Teas of Crippled Children and Adults. It targets writers in Iowa media and a special student prize is planned. The camp between Ankeny and Des Moines will serve 450 to 500 children per two week session.

The Christian School Circle will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday May 3 at 2 00 p m in the Protestant Reformed Church of Hull.
Miss Cornelia A. Zylstra of Hull Iowa will graduate with 173 fellow Grinnell College seniors at June 5 commencement exercises in Grinnell Iowa She is a biology major planning graduate study and has served as a research assistant secretary and waitress while earning a scholarship during two years at Grinnell She is valedictorian of Hull High School 1956 and attended Northwestern Junior College before Grinnell
Patrons in Boyden Iowa received mail from the new post office building today for the first time. The modern facility, built by Ray and wife Mary Smit of Boyden and leased to the U S Post Office Department for 10 years, features contractor Vernon Van Ommeren and government specifications delays. Officers listed include Postmaster Norman Bell Clerk Lorraine Egdorf and rural carriers William Kwikkel Chester Sitter Lucille Dickevers Jake Vander Heiden. Dedication is postponed to July 16 1960 due to absent dignitaries.
Wegman-Keele Post No. 380 American Legion in Hull Iowa will hold its regular monthly meeting on Thursday May 5 at 8 00 p m in the Legion Room at the Community Memorial Building Hull.
Western Christian High School of Hull earned a spot in the sectional final by defeating Boyden Hull 4 to 3 in the state high school sectional tournament. The victory came amid the tournament’s latest round played in Larchwood, with Western Christian advancing to Wednesday’s final.
Rep Charles B. Hoeven of Iowa 8th District introduced a House bill to extend the Conservation Reserve Program for three years to December 31 1963. The measure would authorize retiring up to 60 million acres and allow in kind payments in surplus wheat and feed grains for Conservation Reserve rentals. It preserves rules excluding land reclaimed under Federal projects from Soil Bank or price supports. Hoeven leads on the Agriculture Committee and the proposals align with Eisenhower recommendations.
Paul Muyskens named Director of Admissions and Registrar at Northwestern College Orange City Iowa He comes from Sioux Center Public School staff where he coached basketball and helped win the 1959 state title He holds degrees from Northwestern College Hope College and studies at Western Michigan University He will begin full time duties in 1960 61 and continues graduate work at the University of South Dakota
Mr and Mrs David Schreur and family own the former Mrs Tim Rens residence in Hull located on west Railroad street. The real estate deal closed Saturday afternoon with John A De Groot acting as agent.
Mrs Ed Blumeyer of Boyden has been invited to participate in the Farm Council organized by the Republican State Central Committee for the 1960 campaign. An organizational session of about fifty was held in Des Moines on April 21, with the group planned to operate at precinct level through the summer and autumn.
The Band Boosters Club of the Boyden Hull Community Schools has postponed its meeting indefinitely. The date will be announced in a later issue of this newspaper.

Names called for two $25 prizes at the Saturday drawing were Junior Reuvers and Jake De Zeeuw Sr but neither was present. Three drawings for $25 each remain to be held Saturday April 30 at 8 30 p m when the fire siren sounds.
The Hull Legion Auxiliary Unit 380 met April 21 in the Legion room with Winnie Gunnink leading the business session. Officers approved $5 for Easter Seals and $5 for the Red Cross, showcased Poppy Posters, and announced new hospital equipment from a magazine drive available to Hull residents. Three Republican primary races form the Sioux County slate with District 3 a four way fight for supervisor post held by P. E. De Vries who retires January 1 1962. District 2 and 5 also feature GOP contenders while several county offices are unopposed.
Hull Iowa resident Mrs. Alvin Valentine left Sioux City by plane for Montreal and Frankfurt to visit her parents Mr and Mrs Joseph Fischer and other relatives for three months. The Valentines met while he served in the Army in Germany.
The Sioux County Chapter of the American Cancer Society will meet at 8 00 p m Monday May 4 in Haas Hall Rock Valley High School. A cancer film will be shown and the public is invited.
The American Legion Post 272 in Boyden Iowa will hold its regular meeting Monday May 2 at 7 30 p.m. in the Legion Hall.
Four buses depart Hull at 7 20 a m Saturday for Graettinger Iowa to compete in the State Music Contest for Large Groups. Two buses return at noon two stay for the afternoon. Appearances are Mixed Choir 10 50 Girls Glee Club 11 30 Concert Band 1 51 and Boys Glee Club 3 20.
The Lincoln Loggers 4-H Club met at Clifford Pollema’s home on April 18 with nine members. Officers and delegates were chosen for 4-H Camp, and forms for record books were updated. A talk on the 4-H banquet was given and the next meeting set for May 18 in the park.
