The annual Summer Round-up for children entering Kin garden next fall will be held today in two sessions at Hull and Boyden. Tooth examinations by Dr. A G Dittmer are free. other physicals cost 3 dollars at Dr K R Swanson in Hull, with inoculation costs covered by the P T A.

Belle Kroese Receives Cap At Sioux City Nursing Ceremony

Belle Kroese daughter of Mr and Mrs Ivan Kroese Hull is among fifteen girls who received caps at the Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing ceremony held at Augustana Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Rev Russell Olson gave the address and Miss Gladys Holm presented caps as the class motto The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge was chosen. A large crowd attended the event to honor the new graduates.

Boyden Hull Band Earns Division III Rating In State Contest

The Boyden Hull Senior Band performed at the State Large Group Music Contest in Greattinger Iowa and received a Division III rating. Due to district reorganization the group competed in Class C though often a Class D presence. They played Hall of Fame Concert March and Dublin Holiday Overture and look to grow the instrumental program ahead of Tulip Festival May 20 and Memorial Day services.

The Hull Business and Professional Men’s Club will hold its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday May 11 at 8 00 p m in the Legion Room of the Community Memorial Building. Agenda includes routine business and final plans for the Memorial Day Horse Races. Members urged to attend.

The Ladies Aid Society of the First Reformed Church plans a Mother's Day program on Thursday May 5 at 2 00 pm at the church. Junior High Youth Rally at Boyden May 7

The United Presbyterian Church of Boyden hosts the Junior High Youth Rally of Northwest Iowa Zone I on May 7 from 2 30 to 8 30 p.m. with a banquet at 5 30 p.m. About 80 guests are expected. Miss Zambu Roberts of Kenya Africa, a Westmar College student, will speak. Mothers of local youth will prepare and serve dinner.

The 10th Annual Spring Rally of the Northwestern Iowa Group of the Women’s Missionary Federation of the American Lutheran Church takes place May 5 at Immanuel Lutheran Church Rock Rapids Iowa. Guest speaker Frau Freda Niemann of Germany will discuss Women’s Work in Germany and show slides on prison work. A pageant “From Hence Have We Come” narrates the group’s history. Albert Vink 81 of Orange City Iowa died Monday from a heart attack at Sioux Center Hospital Nursing Wing where he had been admitted a week earlier. Funeral services will be held today Thursday at 1 30 p m from the First Christian Reformed Church in Orange City.

1960 CROP plans for Sioux County begin this week

The Rev Richard H Staple CROP director for Iowa visited Sioux Center April 28 to outline the 1960 Fall campaign The 1959 CROP output included 291354 lb corn oil and 65486 lb corn syrup shipped overseas for food in Korea and Hong Kong Sioux County led Iowa in total CROP contributions and aims for 150000 bushels of corn this year Madison County already pledged 6000 bushels with several counties set to follow.

John Kooiker Wins Poppy Poster Contests

John Kooiker, an eighth grade pupil at the local Christian Grammar School, won first place in local county and Ninth District Poppy Poster contests sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary. His poster will be displayed in the local drug store window. He previously won state honors in the 1959 Fire Prevention Poster Contest despite never having art lessons.

Work Begins on Two New Boyden Buildings

This week in Boyden Iowa construction started on two new structures. A Co-Op Association office rises at Railroad and Main on the former hotel site. Nearby the home of Mr and Mrs Leroy Van Meeteren begins with a completed basement. Additional homes and a large feed mill at the Co-Op Elevator are also under construction.

The Boyden Hull groups at Graettinger earn top marks in Class C. Girls Glee Club cited Division I by all judges. Boys Glee Club earns mixed scores with strong praise.
