Marine Pfc Allan G Schafer son of Mr and Mrs Harold Schafer of Boyden Iowa is undergoing four weeks of individual combat training at a Marine Corps training base. The course teaches infantry basics, weapons, first aid, demolition and field fortifications with Marines trained for any duty.
The State Dairy Month headquarters appoint Lynn Thompson of Clarion Iowa as State Chairman for the 18th observance. Other state committee members include Bruce Werden Des Moines Norbert Kash Waterloo William Maynard Waterloo Glen Gillet Corning John Quist Ames K N Nelson Boyden Frank Sruner Nora Springs C G Stickel Boyden and Chuck Worcester Cedar Rapids. District chairmen are Norbert Kash Northeast Bruce Werden Southeast K N Nelson Northwest and Glen Gillet Southwest.
The Capel Belles held a regular 4-H meeting on Wednesday April 7 at 7 30 PM. Audrey Vander Zwaag demonstrated bed making and Shirley Tangstraat spoke on sheet quality. The group reviewed minutes, hosted projects, and planned May 6 with Norma and Janet Mouw as hostesses.

Second graders Harriet and team dominated spelling with Dwayne absent ill. Darwin celebrated his ninth birthday with treats. Five other students posted perfect spelling while Diane R topped arithmetic in history. Fifth graders Kathleen Beverly Audre Joel Linda Beverly Ruth excel in six week tests as Iowa history and fractions are studied. Lenny Henning named the new reporter for the final six weeks.
