The Easter Cantata Rise, Glorious Conqueror by E. R. Heyser will be presented Sunday evening April 17 at 7 30 o clock at the First Reformed Church in Boyden. A 60 voice choir under Mrs Scott Sneller directs the performance with local residents invited to attend.
Mrs. Duistermars states the Hi Way Drive In scheduled to open in Hull on Friday, April 15. The eatery will operate from 3 30 p m on weekdays except Saturday and from 1 00 p m on Saturdays until school ends. Opening announcement appears elsewhere in this issue.
The Boyden American Legion Auxiliary Unit 272 will meet Monday April 18 at 8 00 p m in the Legion Hall. The program Child Welfare features Mrs George Horn and Mrs Joe A Horn with a Junior Auxiliary segment. Roll call asks for prayers for the Book of Prayer Contest. Members should bring empty spools. Hostesses are Mrs Henry Van Velzen Mrs Doyle Tutte and Mrs Arie Koole.
The Lincoln Township Farm Bureau Women's Group postpones its Friday meeting due to Good Friday. The group will meet next Friday, April 22, at the home of Mrs. Bert De Zeeuw.

The Saturday drawing remains $25.00 with Mr. Marion Reimers called at Coop Oil Station. Starting Saturday April 23 the drawing will be held at 8:30 p.m. instead of the present 3:00 p.m. time, per Commercial Club action.
The Junior American Legion Auxiliary Unit 272 will meet Saturday April 16 at 3 00 p.m. at the Legion Hall. Hostess Patricia Baartman.
Chuck Graham suffered a severe cut and bruises from an emery wheel explosion at his shop. He was knocked to the floor and hit in the ribs, leaving a six inch gash. he returned to work the next day but remained badly bruised.
Wegman Keele Post No. 380 Amer Legion calls a special meeting in Hull for Monday April 18 at 7 00 p m in the Legion Room at the Community Memorial Building to elect two delegates to Boys State. Firing Squad members are urged to attend with uniforms.
Northwestern College will hold its first summer session for six weeks from May 31 to July 7. Registration for summer students is on May 31 from 8 to 10 a.m. with the opening convocation at 10 a.m. classes start at 10:30. Dormitory room and board are available for out of town students. A preliminary list of courses and fees was mailed to teachers and prospective students. Returns for the questionnaire are coming in and the final schedule is expected soon.
Lawrence W. Winter son of Mr and Mrs Albert L Winter Boyden Iowa has been assigned to intern for one year at Central Lutheran Church Edgerton Wisconsin beginning in September He is a 1958 Concordia College Moorhead Minnesota graduate and in his second year of theological training at Wartburg Theological Seminary Dubuque Iowa The internship is the third year of four years of training beyond college It offers practical parish experience under the resident pastor After internship he will return to the seminary for final year and then be ordained into the Lutheran ministry
The Boyden Commercial Club met at noon in the Legion Hall to discuss town matters. They announced the Post Office Building dedication for June 18 and formed committees for the event while planning a Friday opening and rescheduling the $25 drawing to 8:30 p.m. starting April 23.
Hull Business and Professional Men met in the Legion Room to wind up the House Number Project by the next meeting date. They finalized Memorial Day horse races plans and discussed a May 21 Business Promotion Day plus a Friday night opening proposal with mixed votes. Additional topics included summer recreation, band concerts and Appreciation Day.
The Hull community hosts a Union Good Friday service from 1 to 3 PM at the American Reformed Church. Revs. Rozeboom de Jong Van Deelen Ringenoldus and Boertje lead with performances by Hull High and Western Christian High students. Proceeds benefit Bethesda Denver and Pine Rest Children’s Retreat Cutlerville.
Hull Iowa hosts a Good Friday service on April 15 1960 from 1 to 3 pm at the American Reformed Church attendees join in solemn observance at the Hull church event with local residents and church members participating.
A sequence of prayers sermons and musical selections marks a regional Easter service venue featuring Rev. Nickolas Rozeboom Rev. John De Jong Rev. Henry C. Van Deelen Rev. Harold C. Ringenoldus and Rev. Paul Boertje. Performances include mixed ensembles from Western Christian High School and Hull Public High School with readings from Luke 23 and John 19 and culminate in a benediction and postlude.
The Easter Sunrise Service sponsored by the C E Y F groups of the American and First Reformed churches will be held April 17 at 6:30 am at the American Reformed Church. The speaker will be Rev. Donald Boss, pastor of the Reformed Church of Canton South Dakota. Look for the ad elsewhere in this issue.
The Grooters Repair open house on Wednesday April 6 showcased New Holland farm equipment. About 200 guests attended and prizes were awarded including first prize twine to Howard Grevengoed and several other items to local residents such as Dennis Egdorf Jake P Westra and Herman Rohlfs.
Scouts Lucas J. De Koster and Rev. John Irwin organize the Good Turn Day clothing drive for Goodwill Industries in Boyden and Hull. Collect bags by 8:30 a.m. Saturday April 16, with items including clothing curtains linens and small appliances, but no newspapers or magazines.

American Legion Auxiliary Wegman Keele Unit 380 will hold its regular meeting at 8 00 p m in the Legion Room on April 21 due to Maundy Thursday services in some churches.
Boyden Hull students earned five Division I ratings at the state Vocal Music contest last week. Groups include Girls Trio, Girls Quartet with Beverly Plasier Mary Salmon Judy Vander Zwaag Evelyn Te Slaa, and Mixed Quartet with Plasier Vander Zwaag Koerselman Van Sloten, accompanied by Hester Zoet. Soloists include Alto Trudy Roetman and Tenor Bob Dunnick with accompanist Mrs Rosenberger.
The Rev George Lubbers a missionary of the Protestant Reformed Churches will speak at the Community Memorial Building Basement on Tuesday April 19 at 8 00 pm His talk titled The Serious Confrontation and the Preaching of the Gospel.
Eighteen high school teams from Iowa Minnesota and South Dakota prepare for the first annual Central Lyon Relays to be held Tuesday April 19 at Rock Rapids on a fresh crushed brick surface. Class A features Estherville Worthington Minnesota Pipestone Minnesota Canton South Dakota Cherokee Vermillion South Dakota. Class B includes Hartley Le Mars Gehlen Milford Central Lyon Sibley and Maurice Orange City. Class C lists Primghar Sanborn Rock Valley Ellsworth Minnesota Boyden Hull and Aurelia. Events begin 3 30 p m field and 7 p m running with Athletic Director Carl Zehnder announcing. Weather hopeful for warm temps to aid meet records.
