The Wegman Koele Post No. 380 of the American Legion in Hull will hold its regular meeting on Thursday April 7 at 8 00 p m in the Legion Room of the Community Memorial Building Hull.
Arrangements for showing films on Cancer may be made with Mrs. W. K. Price, Chairman of Schools and Colleges. A projector and screen are available upon advanced request as are speakers doctors or laymen. Films and speakers are provided by the American Cancer Society Iowa Division Mason City Iowa to any group at any time by contacting Mrs. W. K. Price Sioux County organizations have used these services. several new films are available for your group.
The Ruth Circle of the Guild for Christian Service of the American Reformed Church of Hull will hold a bake sale on Saturday April 9 at 2:00 p.m. The event will be at the Kooiker Chevrolet Show Room in Hull.
The Hull Iowa gathering on Wednesday March 30 drew about fifty women. Marian De Hae performed Ax Solo and Mrs N Rozeboom reviewed Ugly American. A duet by Mrs Rossenberger and Mrs Kiwikkel accompanied by Mrs Gerrit Vander Schaaf. Library Board President Lucas De Koster praised volunteers and noted Loretta Murray as librarian. List of volunteer librarians and tea hostesses provided.
The American Legion Auxiliary Wegman Keele Unit No 380 will hold its regular meeting Thursday April 14 at 8 00 p m in the Legion Room. All members are urged to be present.
Sioux No. 1 DHIA Coop held its annual business meeting on March 15 1960 at the Boyden Elevator Office. New directors elected were Marvin Horn of Boyden and Donald De Groot of Hull. Officers for the new year are Joe Fuhr of Boyden President August De Ruyter of Rock Valley Vice President and Edgar Vermeer of Boyden Secretary. The fiscal year March 1 1959 to February 29 1960 shows averages of 454.8 lb butterfat and 12 651 lb milk per cow tested with gross income per cow of 420.02 and feed cost 186.38 leaving product value over feed cost at 233.64. There are twenty three DHIA members and twenty three enrolled in owner sampler testing. The Supervisor for the association is Marvin Warntjes of Boyden.
Northwestern College A Cappella Choir under Prof. Lawrence Van Wyk will perform sacred music at First Reformed Church in Hull on Sunday April 10 at 7 30 p m A free will offering will be taken The 50 voice choir is on its 32nd annual sacred concert tour performing in Iowa Minnesota Wisconsin and Illinois The NBC Coast to Coast broadcast selection Great Choirs of America featured the group last year.
Miss Sherry Smit of Boyden informed her parents that she has been selected as a candidate for Miss University of South Dakota at Vermilion. She is a student at Vermilion campus.
Hull Christian School will present its annual all school Easter program next Tuesday April 12 at 7 45 p m at the Christian Reformed Church. Every child and room will participate with the lower rooms performing solos and songs while grades five through eight sing The Children's Alleluia by Lois Emig. All children join in a chorus with school band accompaniment. An offering will be taken.
Boyden-Hull High School will enter about 30 entries in the State Music Contest at Orange City this Friday and Saturday. The reorganized contest places Boyden-Hull in Class C with schools such as Alta and Sioux Center, with events from 3:00 pm Friday to 8:00 am Saturday. Admission is free at all centers.
On Friday at 8:00 p.m. a talent program will be held in Western's gymnasium featuring student acts. The top three numbers will win prizes voted by the audience. Tickets at the door cost 50 cents for adults and 25 cents for students. proceeds help pay for a recently purchased piano.
The Christian School Society will hold a meeting on Wednesday April 18 at 8:00 p.m. in the Christian Reformed Church. All interested in Christian education are urged to attend. Discussion will include plans for enlarging the current school facilities.
The Easter Sunrise Service will be held April 17 at 6 30 a.m. at the American Reformed Church. Speaker Rev Donald Boss pastor of the Reformed Church of Canton South Dakota attended by the C E Y F of two local churches.
The Boyden Commercial Club will hold its regular monthly dinner meeting on Monday April 11 at 12:00 noon in the Legion Hall. All businessmen are urged to attend. A discussion on Friday evening opening of business places will take place.
George Pals head of science and math at Western Christian High School receives National Science Foundation scholarship for study in a Summer Session at Pratt Institute Engineering School in Brooklyn New York.
Mrs Duistermars announces the Hi Way Drive In will open for business in Hull on Friday April 15. The popular eating place will operate weekdays from 3 30 p m and Saturdays from 1 00 p m until school ends. Watch for opening ad next week.
Mayor G Slothouber Henry Bosman and Dick De Groot attended a Republican Presidential Caucus meeting at the Court House in Orange City last week to appoint delegates to the State Convention to be held in late April.
Winners of the Hawkeye League Young Calvinist Oratorical Contest were announced at a spring banquet at Western Christian High School on Friday. First place in both girls and boys divisions earned Davis Bible Dictionaries and qualified for the Federation District contest hosted by Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with state and regional winners advancing to the international event in Grand Rapids Michigan in August.
The Boyden Hull School track squad opens the season with a large roster led by returning lettermen Ron Groeters Marvin Van t Hul Paul Oelrich and Calvin Kooiker among seniors. Record holders Marvin Van t Hul and Paul Oelrich headline events in the nose vault shot and football throw with mile relay standouts Clayton Kooiker Calvin Kooiker Dennis De Wild and Marvin Van t Hul. Underclassmen train in field events as twelve former students join for the first time.
Busy Bees 4-H Club will meet Saturday afternoon April 9 at the Legion Hall. Hostess is Nancy Postma.
The Hull American Reformed Church hosts a third annual Union Good Friday Service from 1 00 to 2 30 PM sponsored by the Hull Coordinating Fellowship Club. Revs Nickolas Rozeboom John D de Jong Henry C Van Deelen Harold Ringenoldus and Paul Eppertje will speak. Music由 Hull high schools and Western Christian High. Donations benefit Bethesda Denver Pine Rest and Children's Retreat Cutlerville. Local businesses will close during the service.
The Gleaners Society of the First Reformed Church invites for its annual Mother-Daughter Banquet on Monday May 2 at the Hull Community Building. Tickets are available from Gleaner Girls or by calling Mrs. Marion Kempers or Mrs. Wallace Groeneweg.

The Western Go-Getters 4 H Club of near Sioux Center and the Sioux Stockmen 4 H Club of near Orange City won their divisions in the Sioux County 4 H Basketball Tournament at Boyden. Evan De Boer scored 12 points to lead the Go-Getters to a 28 17 junior final victory over the Sheridan Livestock Growers. Joel Sybesma led the Read ing Rough Riders with 17 points as the Stockmen routed the opposing team 59 29. Capel Propellers beat the Holland Windmills 28 27 in junior consolation after overtime, while Welcome Workers topped Lincoln Loggers 64 52 for senior third place. John Haveman of the Lincoln Loggers led all scorers with 84 points across three games and posted high game scores of 37 and 29. Robert Langstraat of Capel Propellers led junior total scoring with 53 and had top game totals of 23 and 21.
Hull leads Sioux County cancer drive with D-Day house to house canvass starting Monday. County crusade chairwoman E. B. Grossman urges volunteers to inform families about cancer and secure strong contributions to fund research, service, and education.

April 15 marks the fourth annual Coffee Day for Crippled Children. Funds support a new residential summer camp near Ankeny Des Moines adjacent to Margo Frankel Woods State Park.
Three hundred young people from the Christian Reformed Church of Northwest Iowa gathered in Western's gym for the Hawkeye League Banquet on Friday April 1. Rev C Nieuwenhuis of Le Mars delivered a message on the theme Anchored in Christ as a male quartet sang. The event featured decorations from Sheldon Rock Valley and Gheldon churches and included a skit by Sheldon Young people.
